Grand Knight’s Message                                           July 2004
by Norvel Cason

I thank Father Bob and Norm Corriveau for their dedication to our council 11690 Knights of Columbus. With Father as our Chaplain and Norm as our Grand Knight, we were successful in achieving several awards such as the Charity Award, the State Family Activity Award of the Year and additional awards as future possibilities. We will certainly miss Father Bob and wish him well in his new assignment. We shall certainly keep Father Bob in our prayers.

Our first family event of the year will be the Fan Fest at McCoy Stadium. I believe Jack Camara has already secured the tickets and is eager to distribute them. Let’s make this a fun family day by having as many members as possible attend the Fan Fest event on August 15, 2004.

You are aware that Charity, Unity and Fraternalism are illustrated in great detail from the 1st  to   the 3rd degree. I ask that each of us please keep this as a reminder as we go about doing our various works this fraternal year. There is much that I must learn and I shall seek your help in learning things that I do not know. Thank you for your expected help and cooperation.

                                                                                                          Vivat Jesus,

                                                                    Norvel Cason

On July 4th, the Assembly will celebrate its 718th Monthly Corporate Mass at 8:00 AM, at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, located at 439 West Street in Brockton.  The breakfast will take place at George’s Café, following the Mass.  We will present the Monsignor Pitaro Scholarship of $500 to Bonie Rosario Jr. of Brockton.

As we prepare to open our new fraternal year, I would like to challenge all brother knights to consider joining the highest degree in the Knights of Columbus, at next year’s exemplification.

The 4th Degree Raffle Winners for June 2004 are:

  # 80  PGK John Killory of Norwood

  # 91  John Perrotta of Brockton

In closing, I would like to thank Fr. Bob for all he has done for both our council and our assembly and pray that his mission continues successfully in New Bedford.  You will always be in our hearts.  Thank you, thank you, and thank you…………..

New Sir Knights

Congratulations to our Council’s new Sir Knights:  PGK Tony Medeiros, DD, and Michael Rota.  They made their Fourth Degree Exemplification at the majestic Fairview Council Hall in Chicopee on Sunday, June 6th.  GK Norm Corriveau, PGK Paul Grenier, and PGK Tom Castello were present at this patriotic ceremony to offer both of them a very warm welcome to the highest Degree of our Order.

Mass for the Armed Forces

At the 11 AM Mass of Sunday, June 13th, 2004,  we celebrated a special Mass for all those serving our country in the military and for those who have served in the past.  The American Legion led the procession with their Color Corps, followed by the Honor Guard of Fourth Degree Sir Knights.  Our Chaplain Father Bob celebrated this Mass with special mention of those who have sacrificed so much for all of us.

Our special thanks to Frank McLaughlin, his wife, daughter and granddaughter for the red-white-and blue decorations and for making this day, the eve of our National Flag Day, a very special patriotc day.  Thanks also for these photos.
