Grand Knight’s Message
March 2004
by Norm Corriveau
Lent reminds us of the tremendous love God has for each one of us.
The cruel and very unjust Passion that Our Lord suffered for us is clear
proof of how much we each mean to Him and of how much He wants us to forgive
each other no matter what. This
kind of forgiving love is definitely stronger than any kind of suffering, even
stronger than death. Let us make
this Lent a most meaningful one, just for the glory of Our Savior.
Judging by the length of our calendar on the last page of
this newsletter, we have another busy month.
In March, our Order of Knights is focusing on a strong effort to recruit
new members. In order to “Build
a Better World: One Council at a
Time”, we need to go and harvest the good men that God has
planted in our Parishes; they
have been called to carry on the “torch of Christ” like we are doing.
The Holy Spirit will support us if we each make a real effort.
Let each one of us bring in one new member this year.
On Sunday, March 21st,
our Council will have the Icon of Divine Mercy exposed at each Mass.
We are also having a Divine Mercy Devotion at 3:00 PM at church, praying
the Chaplet of Divine Mercy. Please
join us in this corporate prayer service.
Thursday, March 25th is the International K of C
Day of the Unborn Child, which was
instituted as an addition to the Order’s Crusade for Life.
To celebrate this special Day, we will hold a rosary prayer service in
our meeting room of the Parish Center at 8:30 PM, immediately after the
basketball session.
If you have a prospective member who wants more information
on the Knights of Columbus, I will
be available in the meeting room on Thursday, March 25th from 6:30 PM
to 8:30 PM, to show videos on
aspects of the Order and describe the nature of our Order with its variety of
activities.
Vivat Jesus,
Norm Corriveau

After each of the 7 Masses on the weekend of February 14-15th,
we handed out K of C fliers and introduced many families to the nature
and activities of the Knights of Columbus.
Tony Medeiros lent us his membership display board for the weekend.
We also gave out prepared membership packets to those who showed serious
interest.
Father George Bellenoit was very gracious in spreading the
word about the Knights of Columbus in his church bulletins and announcements
made at the end of each Mass. Several
Knights of the parish who recently transferred to our Council stepped forward to
proudly introduce themselves to us.
Our Grand Knight Norm Corriveau thanks all the volunteers
who came out to share in this valuable endeavor to promote membership in the
Knights of Columbus: namely, Norvel
Cason, Frank McLaughlin, Jim McEnaney, Jean-Paul Sirois, Jack Camara, Louis
Tarsa, Kevin Weber, and Jim Coulter.
And again, “Thank you, Father George”.
Once again, it’s time for our famous annual corned
beef-and-cabbage dinner in
celebration of St. Patrick. The
dinner is being held on Saturday, March 13th at the Parish Center, at
6:30 PM. Invite your friends.
All are welcome.
Tickets for the dinner will be sold after each Mass on the
weekends of February 28-29th and March 6-7th.
The cost per person is $8.00; children
aged 8 & under get in free.
Pasta will also be served.

Appreciation
Dinner
By Frank McLaughlin
On Saturday, February 28, 2004, the appreciation dinner was
held at the parish center. Approximately
100 volunteers came and were served a nice meal of roast beef, chicken, scrod,
potatoes, carrots, peas, cake & ice cream.
All the volunteers and their spouses appear to have enjoyed the evening,
and we certainly hope that was the case. It
is impossible to individually recognize all those who contributed to making this
a successful vent, but we would be remised if we didn’t pay special thanks to
our pastor and worthy chaplain Fr. Bob Oliveira who chose to do this as a way of
thanking all for all that they do. It
was especially pleasing to see so many fine people come together for a couple of
hours of enjoyment after all they do. Again
many thanks to all who made this a truly successful night.
Mass.
State Council K of C Living Rosary
Our State Council of Knights will be holding a Living
Rosary and a Pro-Life Mass on Saturday, May 1st
at LaSalette Shrine in Attleboro. All
Councils in our State of Massachusetts are strongly urged to participate in this
religious and corporate celebration to honor Our Blessed Mother on the first day
of May, the Month of Mary.
Father DiLorenzo of Boston will preside as celebrant and
homilist.
Let us make a serious effort to honor Mary and pray for her
intercession toward peace in the world and sincere respect for the gift of life.
Let us mark this date on our busy calendars.
Reporting
on P-Bruins Hockey Game
We had a group of 50 people who attended the Providence
Bruins against Worcester, at 4:00 PM on Sunday, February 22nd.
The hockey game was evenly matched and exciting,
ending with Worcester’s victory in overtime:
Worcester 3 and Providence 2.
Thanks to Bob St.Martin for organizing this fun-filled
family outing.
Congratulations
On Sunday, February 29th,
four members of our St. Mary’s Council went on to make their Third
Degree in our Order of Knights: James
Keady, James O’Neill, Kevin Weber, and Timothy Woods.
Accompanying them were Deputy Grand Knight Norvel Cason and Chancelor
Frank McLaughlin.
Bowling
Party
Bob St.Martin has again graciously volunteered to run
another annual and fun-filled family activity on Sunday, March 28th.
It’s our Bowling for all ages, followed by a Pizza Party!
Bowling at 4:00 PM; pizza
and drinks at 5:00 PM.
Bob needs to know how many people will be showing up.
Please call Bob as soon as possible
@ 1-781-784-9799 if you are interested.
Prayer
Requests
Let us pray for the repose of the soul of Robert Nickerson,
brother of Debbie Grenier, who was called home to the Lord at the age of 56, and
for the repose of William Hodges, the stepfather of Matthew Tatarczuk.
Let us also pray in thanksgiving for the many healings that
took place just recently because of our prayers: namely Terri O’Neill,
Joe Daley, Donald &
Gertrude Thibeault, and Norm Corriveau.
Prayer for Serenity
"God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference, living one day at a time, enjoying one moment at a time, accepting hardship as a pathway to peace, taking as Jesus did this sinful world as it is, not as I would have it, trusting that You will make all things right if I surrender to your will, so that I may be reasonably happy in this life and supremely happy with You forever in the Next."
