Grand Knight’s Message                                           January 2004
by Norm Corriveau

Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas.  Another year has gone by and a new one is upon us with all its hopes.  We can ask for the Lord’s blessings to make it a happy, healthy and fruitful year, all for His greater glory.

Kudos:

Thanks to all who helped make St. Mary’s Christmas Bazaar the great success that it was.  Marie Pino and Jane Steeves, our Bazaar co-ordinators, were well pleased and deeply appreciative of your generous efforts and time of volunteerism.  Special recognition goes to PGK Mark Bowditch who stepped forward and took on the organizing of kitchen help and food service during the Bazaar.

Thanks also to all who participated in the “Giving Tree” and in preparing the “Turkey Meal” for the Homeless at Samaritan House in Taunton.  Special recognition goes to our co-ordinators,  PGK Tony Medeiros, DD,  PGK Tom Castello,  and SK Donald Thibeault.  Thanks to all their helpers in reaching out to our less fortunate brothers and sisters.

January 7th:

All members are invited to attend our Planning Meeting of Wednesday, January 7th, at 8 PM, at the Parish Center.  We need your input of brainstorming for the upcoming events:  the Free-Throw Championships,  the Annual State Raffle,  the K of C Essay Contest,  the Pro-Life Mass,  the P-Bruins Game,  the Bowling Party,  and an Appreciation Dinner for all the volunteers of St. Mary’s Parish. \

Reminders:

Our annual dues for 2004.  You can make your check of $30 payable to:  St. Mary’s K of C,  and mail it to:  Glenn Ringer,  19 Essex St.,  Norton, MA 02766.  You will then receive your 2004 Membership Card.

Letter from an Unborn Child

(From Priests for Life website)

Dear Christian,

I was very much looking forward to my life in this world.

I wanted to have dolls, ride a bike, go to the circus, and see the zoo.

I looked forward to celebrating Christmas and receiving Jesus in Holy Communion.

I'm very sad I never got to do any of these things. My parents did not let me be born.

But I just don't understand one thing -- why didn't any of you help me? I wish you had. Nobody heard my crying voice.

From,

An unborn baby

Please join your fellow parishioners on Sunday, January 25, 2004 for the annual Pro-Life Mass celebrated by Fr. Robert Oliveira at 11:00 AM. Come together to pray for an end to abortion, euthanasia, and all other acts against the precious gift of life.

Please continue each day with your families to pray for LIFE through Our Lady's intercession.

2003 Top Events

We thought of outlining the 2003 Top Events of our Council.  This is not an easy task because we held so many good events, some very important to some members and not so for others.

Isn’t it more important to focus on upcoming events and make them of better quality?  This is why our Planning Meetings on the first Wednesday of each month take on a greater importance.  We need everybody’s individual brainstorming to achieve that better quality.
