Grand
Knight’s Message
by Norm Corriveau
First
of all, let me express my sincere gratitude to PGK Paul Grenier for his
outstanding dedication and commitment in leading our Council 11690 as Grand
Knight over the past fraternal year. He
has been an inspiration to me; I
hope I can do as well, this coming year.
Secondly, thanks to all our Brother Knights who have
accepted the responsibilities of their new office and/or directorship.
No doubt, it is easier not to be an officer or a director.
Thanks again for sharing your God-given talents in our quest for Charity,
Unity, and Fraternity.
This
year, I would like to see getting our newer members more involved.
This requires some mentoring. Those
with some experience in running events can be of great help in showing our newer
members the nuts and bolts in running these events.
Mentoring fosters Fraternal unity; that’s
what we’re all about!
Our
July activities consist mainly in helping out as volunteers for the 2 weekends
LaSalette Shrine is hosting the Steubenville East Youth Conferences.
Each weekend, July 11-13th or July 18-20th,
will be packed with some 2700 high-school students who want to learn more
about the teachings of Jesus for our modern society.
This year, the theme of the Conference is
“Just Live It”.
If
you can take at least 2 hours out of your busy schedule to volunteer in this Youth
Activity, especially on July 12th
or July 19th, you will
witness God’s amazing grace on the future of our nation.
If you can help, please call
me at 508-285-3755.
Vivat
Jesus,
Norm
Corriveau

on the Mass for Armed Forces
On
Sunday, June 8th at
The
Mass, celebrated by our worthy Chaplain, Fr. Bob Oliveira, was both moving and
gratifying. The service was further
enhanced by the presence of our Fourth Degree Honor Guard,
of the Norton American Legion Color Guard, the organist, and the cantor.
These individuals gave color and honor for our parishioners and members
of the Armed Forces with their families.
This
was all made possible by you, my Brother Knights, and your families.
A special thanks to Brothers Mark Bowditch, Norvel Cason, Henry Comerford,
Norm Corriveau, Paul Grenier, John
Kilroy, Jim McEnaney, Tony Medeiros, Peter Pino, Fred Pope, and J.P. Sirois.
And, thanks to my wife Barbara, my
daughter Susan, and granddaughter Kayla, who
made the lapel ribbons, ribbons for the church pews, and decorations at the
refreshment table.
And,
thanks to our Worthy Chaplain, Fr.
Bob Oliveira, who delivered a spectacular Homily, and for being who he is:
a great priest and a very special man.
All
the refreshments were donated, at no cost, by the Norton Dunkin’ Donuts.
Many thanks.

Prayer
I
thank God for the gift of my life, and
for the lives of my brothers and sisters.
I
know I am responsible for the unborn who cannot speak for themselves.
I
know that the most serious tragedy of our day is the tragedy of abortion.
Today,
I commit myself never to be silent, never to be passive, never to be forgetful
of the unborn.
I
commit myself to be active in the pro-life movement,
and never stop defending life, until
all my brothers and sisters are protected,
and our nation once again becomes a nation with liberty and justice…not
just for some, but for all. Amen.
