The council sends two voting delegates to the convention, which starts 6 PM on Friday and ends at 12 PM on Sunday. If anyone is interested in  participating as a delegate, please contact the Grand Knight. Any brother can

attend the convention as a non-voting delegate, with no time restrictions.

Comments

Let us keep in our prayers all the victims and families of the tragedy in Rhode Island. As a society, I pray that we can all learn from this tragedy at the “Station”.  Remember as we move into the Lent, to take time to reflect on our individual

path and what we can do to keep the light of Christ bright.

St. Patrick’s Dinner

By Mark Bowditch

O ur council is once again having its now famous annual corned beef and

cabbage boiled dinner in celebration of St. Patrick’s day. It is being held at the parish center on Saturday, March 15th and doors will open at 6:00pm. Dinner will be

served at 6:30. Because of the success of the spaghetti dinner, we will once

again be serving the meal “family style”. This format seems to work well with a large crowd as it eliminates the long lines and our patrons can just relax and enjoy a

nice sit down dinner. In order for us to pull this off, we have to have a lot of help, especially with serving. So please, if you can make it, even for half an hour,

please call me at 226-8726 to sign up. Tickets will be sold after all Masses this weekend and next and are priced as follows.

$10.00 per person (adult)

$5.00 per person (16 and under)

Kids 7 and under are free (we will be offering pasta for those picky kids who wont try anything new, mainly the Bowditch kids) Lastly, this is open to all so invite

your friends and family members as well. Hope to see you there.

February Family Fun

by Norm Corriveau

O ur gratitude goes out to SK Bob St. Martin, our Family Director, for running two fun-filled family events in February:

Feb. 9th, at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center in Providence. We had 12 Knight

families enjoying an exciting 4 pm hockey game between the Providence Bruins

and the Manitoba Moose. The Bruins won by the score of 4 – 2, their goalie Thomas getting the MVP award.

Feb. 23rd, at Ryan’s Bowling Alleys on Route 44 in Raynham. We had 11 Knight

families bowling in 8 lanes. The event ended with a Pizza party. Once again,

thanks Bob!

Year of the Rosary

by Norm Corriveau

O ur Holy Father, Pope John Paul II, has proclaimed the period between October 2002 and October 2003 to be the Year of the Rosary. He calls all Catholics to “reclaim the full meaning of the rosary”. The rosary is “an inner journey which brings the faithful into living contact with the mystery of Christ and his Blessed Mother”. The rosary is a means of learning from Mary the secrets of Jesus and of  understanding His message of our eternal salvation. Mary appeared at Fatima to remind us of the importance of the rosary in our prayer life. A person praying the rosary meditates on the mysteries of Jesus’ life, whereby He revealed to us the Good News of our eternal salvation. With the start of Lent, we can make the rosary a priority: not “something to give up”. The family that prays the rosary together, actually places Jesus at the center of their lives, putting their needs and their plans in His hands.

Congratulations

By Norm Corriveau

O ur most sincere wishes to welcome five new members to our council. On Tuesday, Feb. 25th, the Middleboro Council hosted a First Degree and Second

Degree Exemplification: 24 candidates in the First, and 38 candidates in the Second. Those joining our Council 11690 are: Paul Brassard, Robert LaConte, James O’Neil, Chris Regan, and Timothy Woods. Our own Worthy District Deputy, Tony Medeiros, organized and led the exemplification, graced with the presence of State Secretary

Richard Guerreiro, State Advocate Bill Donovan, and State Membership Director Peter Healy. Also present were many DD’s, Field agents, and Grand Knights.

We had nine of our Council who came to support our new members: GK Paul Grenier, DD Tony Medeiros, PGK Tom Castello, FA Rick Fusaro, DGK Norm

Corriveau, Jack Camara, Leo Schleicher, Ed Groden, and Frank McLaughlin.

Prayer Requests

By Norm Corriveau

P GK Jack Killory was immediately admitted to Boston Medical Center on Tuesday, Feb. 25th, after undergoing a routine “stress test” for shortness of breath. He was scheduled for a triple by-pass, but he ended the surgery with a quadruple bypass. All went well. As you all know, Jack is a “fighter”; but he does need the support of our prayers. SK Donald Thibeault is now getting around fairly well with his new left knee. He was very patient in overcoming an endless

flow of obstacles in getting it done. He is very grateful for our prayers over the past months. Let us keep him in our prayers during the rehab process. Let us also pray for Lenny Silvia and many other Brothers who may be dealing with pain or illness.

Family of the Month presented to Jarbeau Family. State Secretary Richard Guerreiro and State Program Director Dave

Curreri, District Deputy Tony Medeiros, and Grand Knight Paul Grenier join in presenting the Family of the Month to the Jarbeau

Family.
