We
have just completed our most successful membership drive to date, receiving six
applications
at our open house. I would like to thank Bob Smith and Tom Castello for their
efforts. Also, I would like to thank Fr. Bob and Brother Knights who spoke at
the Masses on behalf of the Knights. Another thank you to Rick Fusaro, Insurance
Agent from Mansfield who helped during the open house.
Both
the Semi-Annual Audit and the Fraternal Survey have been completed and submitted
to Supreme and the Mass State Council. I would like to thank all those who
helped with the audit (great job, Glenn) and those who participated with the
fraternal survey.
As
we move into the Lent, let us take the time in our busy lives to reflect daily
the path we have chosen and pray that we can follow the light of Christ on our
journey. It’s not too early to think about the 4th
Degree Exemplification on June 7th. Any
interested 3rd Degree
Brothers can talk to our Faithful Navigator, Norm Corriveau or myself on the
principles of Patriotism. Also, we will be looking for members to represent our
council at the State Convention in early May. Any interested brother can contact
myself or the Deputy Grand Knight for details.

State
Raffle Ticket
by
Norvel Cason
A
s many of you are
aware, we participate in the state raffle each year. We have used the raffle
proceeds to help in our charitable works and wish to continue the tradition.
This year, forty thousand dollars are being given by the State in prizes and
each dollar our council generates, we retain 40% of that dollar. Many of you
have booklets to sell but if you do not, please contact me and I will gladly
provide you with a few to sell. Someone will be contacting members who currently
have no books to sell. The deadline for returning the raffle booklets is the
20th of April 2003. If you feel you will not sell all of your booklets, please
return the unsold booklets by the end of March 2003 – someone else may be able
to sell them. Imagine for a moment how ethereal this process would be if each
member made a genuine effort to support the council in the ticket sales. Please,
let’s make this an excellent year.
Spaghetti
Supper by Mark Bowditch
O
n Behalf of Frank
McGlaughlin and myself, I would like to thank all the brother
knights
who came by to help out with our Spaghetti Supper. This year we had decided to
try out something a little different and serve everything “family style”.
In
order for this to work, we knew we would have to have a real good turn out of
volunteers, and you all certainly all stepped to the plate. With your help, we
were
able to serve enough spaghetti (60 lbs.) and meatballs (50 lbs.) to feed around
200 people and had all out in less than 20 minutes! Great work guys!
This
event also turned out to be a decent fundraiser for us as we netted $ 433.27 for
the council, $135.00 of which came from the 50/50 raffle (thanks Leo & Bob).
So
thanks again for all your efforts and to all that bought tickets and came and
enjoyed a great night out. Ps. My apologies to Frank who made the sauce: who
would have thunk carrots would be good in spaghetti sauce?
Great
job Frank! The sauce was awesome.

Prayer
Requests by
Norm Corriveau
L
et us remember in our
prayers those Brother Knights who are having health
problems.
Don Thibeault is finally getting his knee replacement on Thurs. Jan. 30th.
He
had to wait months for this; our prayers were answered. A couple of weeks ago,
he received a pacemaker after undergoing so many tests. Now, he is hopeful for
the future. His wife, Gertrude, also needs our prayers; something is pinching
the sciatic nerve, which is very painful. Lenny Sylvia also needs our prayers in
making a serious decision on whether to undergo surgery. Let us pray for all who
are
dealing
with pain of one sort or another. God always answers our prayers: always in our
best interests.
Celebrating
Life by
Norm Corriveau
T
hanks to all who
joined us for the celebration of our Pro-Life Mass on Sunday, Jan. 26th. It was exhilarating to see a full church, with so
many Knights, to celebrate God’s precious gift of Life.
We were graced with the generous presence of nine Sir Knights of the 4th Degree
to form the Honor Guard at our Annual Pro-Life Mass.
Be
the Sun
Be
the Sun you were created to be And you will do those things the Sun has done.
Be
a source of light without which we could Not see what is good and beautiful.
Then,
like the Sun, you can touch The whole world without census.
And
when your life on earth is ended, You too will have given enough
To
those who needed your life So that they could live on.
