Project 003 - Making Menchi - July 2006

As viewers of Excel Saga will know, the star of the show is Menchi, Excel's "emergency food supply" and pet. Since I have the Ink 'n Paint material working well, I'm going to use it to do a Menchi in 3DS Max 7. It'll also give me something more interesting to do than man-made objects like my mech from Project 001.

After a few hours work and messing around I managed to make a basic model at a fairly low poly count. I used the Edit Poly modifier rather than Edit Mesh (which I normally use,) since using Edit Mesh creates a large history in the modifier stack, and I'm confident enough to do without it.

Either way, here is a quick render of the model with basic 'Menchi fur' material and a light for contrast.

No eyes as yet, as I haven't set up the Multi/Sub-Object material yet to put them in.

UPDATE 28/07/06 - Due to a HDD failure I now have no copy of this, and so it will remain unfished.
