Background:
Naoyuki was mother's favorite as he was the first of her children to share her full-blooded Hakken heritage. My older sister was favored by my father, since she was his first daughter. I was my own favorite; the youngest daughter that both my siblings doted over.

We were not an overly wealthy family, but we have a heritage that spanned back through the centuries. What money alone couldn't do, there was the family prestige. Having told to my brother, sister, and myself every night in the same manner that some children hear faerie tales, we grew proud of this lineage.

Like my brother, I too received the changing ability. But this wasn't enough to stop them when they came to kill our family line. Night fell, and we were awakened by fighting in the family compound. My brother rounded up Yoshiaki, the nephew and youngest member of our line, and Grandmother Inoue while I watched as my sister was struck down, and her husband soon following.

Fleeing the country, all four of us came here, to this Little Asia. Naoyuki awaits a phone call I know will never come. We are all Yoshiaki has now, and I pray that we're enough to secure him a happy life, a life that can pass on our heritage despite all that we've lost.
