Day 5: The Alaska State Fair!
Day 5 was a much-needed reprieve from the grueling hill climbs of the days prior.  We were all bussed for about 37 miles due to "unsafe" riding conditions along the highway and only had to cycle 30 miles today!  Much of it DOWNHILL!  Woo-hoo!  The day started off rainy but we arrive into Palmer early in the afternoon and the weather cleared and after a hot shower and some dry clothes, we all head over to the Alaska State Fair where I had flashbacks from my childhood days and memories of rides gone horribly wrong... Remember that, mom?
Quick bus stop headed for Chickaloon King Mountain Lodge. L-R: Aparna, Nick, Jill, Greg, Me!, and Jen
Below, Jill, Nick and I share some "mylar love" in an attempt to get warm after arriving in Palmer, cold and very damp!
Below, Greg, Dave and Nick set up camp for the evening!
Since so many people were wondering, I thought I'd include pics of our snazzy mobile showers. Hauled along by 18-wheelers these things rocked my world as they provided hot showers every evening!!!  Check it out below!
After settling into camp for the evening we headed out to the Alaska State Fair where we partied like rock stars (not!) and had a wicked time in general!
Kodie showing some love to the LARGE veggies grown in Alaska!
Semi-permanent rest stop at the beer garden...

More to come...
