We would like to offer the following tips to help you find that perfect puppy!
1) Ask Questions! One way for you and the breeder to get to know each other better is by asking questions.
2) Verify that there are clearances in writing! The current GRCA required clearances for Goldens are: Hips, Eyes, Hearts, and Elbows.
3) Look into the background of the breeder. Find out if they are well known and what other breeders have to say about them! Most reputable breeders invite the scrutiny since they will be doing background checks on puppy buyers also!
4) Last but certainly not the least of importance, Stay away from pet stores! Most pet stores will be eager to sell you a puppy, but won't be so eager to refund your money if there is a problem! If you look into it, you may just find that you can get a puppy from a reputable breeder for the same or sometimes even less money than you will spend by the time you get done with a pet store!
A puppy is a lifetime commitment and most reputable breeders try to ensure that their puppies are going to homes where the puppies will be well taken care of, especially after they become adults! So try to keep this in mind when filling out a puppy questionare, or talking to a breeder.
