Forever, as a shadow flees its maker.
Still my hopes go on before me
Just a hair beyond my reach
No matter how I might beseech them.
From conception their potential was astounding.
Spanning acres, world surrounding in the dawn.
The sheer potential was unnerving
Yet I followed it unswerving
Every second drawing closer,
As the sun upon its journey brought me
Nearer to my dream (Or so it seemed).
And in that instant when the sun above me shone
And it was mine to take, the dream was gone!
And as I sat and pondered
Where my aspiration went
I stole a fleeting glance behind me
And, alas, my soul was rent.
For in the passing of the moment
Opportunity was spent.
And now forever, as a shadow flees its maker.
Still my hopes go on before me
Just a hair beyond my reach
No matter how I might beseech them.
