Chasm

I went to drink and came back dry
I drove into a flaming sky
And pondered my existance.
And when, upon my homeward way
The red surrendered to the gray.
I questioned my insistence
And as I pass by concrete walls
Another empty memory falls
Into my reminiscence.
Twas all for naught? I loathe the thought.
that all my "outs" are marred by bouts
Of wasted time and distance.
Wasted dreams of joy and love.
(You know the ones I'm thinking of)
Exceed beyond abundance.
On and on again it echoes
Days and weeks all ebb and flow
To chasms of redundance
