Ko Dan Ja Shim Sa 2000
Ho Sin Sool
·
Always try to use elbows as lever arms to break
grip, if possible
·
Use Soo Do and Yuk Soo Do as much as possible.
These are VERY effective for getting out of grips with little energy
expenditure and effort, so long as huh ri is used correctly to initiate the Soo
Do or Yuk Soo Do motion.
o All sleeve grips that have a turning of the wrist (such as in regrabbing), try to do a Soo Do or Yuk Soo Do to break out instead of just regrabbing and turning.
· Back Grip -- Close
o As you step back to the left with your left leg, turn both hands (fingers should point together) and push elbows out, then continue to turn and finish ho sin sool.
· 2-on-2 -- #2
o Shoot left hand down to the right, then do a very large circular Soo Do motion with your left hand and grab opponent's left arm/wrist. Lunge left and perform a right Soo Do technique to opponent's neck.
o Keep your body close to opponent's body to make doing this Ho Sin Sool easier.
· Side Grip -- Natural Grip
o After side kick to opponent's mid-thigh, do a strong, circular Yuk Soo Do motion with gripped hand to loosen opponent's grip. Regrab to the outer pads of opponent's hand. Execute a Dollyo Cha Gi.
· Same Side Lower Sleeve Grips -- #2
o For Soo Do strike, step back and then lunge back in to direct energy toward opponent.
§ Stepping back only directs energy away from Soo Do strike--not in keeping with the proper execution of a strike.
· Same Side Lower Sleeve Grips -- #3
o If necessary, pull opponent's right arm back to get in for elbow strike to opponent's kidney area.
·
Dando Ho Sin Sool
o
#1 – Thrust Straight In
§
After redirecting energy with Phakeso
Ahnero Mahk Kee (without striking opponent, but rather redirecting), shift
weight onto back leg (like in Chil Sung 5) to rotate opponent’s knife hand to
prevent cutting self. Then twist
opponent’s knife hand, carefully remove Dando, punch and Ahp Cha Na Gi.
o
#2 – From Top Down
§
Guide opponent’s arm and knife down
between their legs while stepping to the closed side (side where there front leg
is). Yuk Soo Do simultaneously with
other hand (preparation for Yuk Soo Do is not from behind, but short in front,
just in case you need to defend your own torso area).
Then shift your weight, twist opponent’s knife hand, and Ahp Cha Na Gi.
o
#3 – Outside In
§
Chop to neck and block at wrist before
turning. Then proceed to rest of
technique.
o
#4 – Inside Out
§
Keep energy of opponent going by
“throwing” then twisting back (if necessary, throw opponent to ground with
strong wrist twist). Remove Dando
and kick Ahp Cha Na Gi.
§
Do not stop opponent – redirect them!
o
#5 – From Bottom Up
§
Trap opponent’s wrist with your 2
hands, like cross wrist Soo Do, about ˝ way up (slightly before).
Then, sandwich their hand and knife with your two hands – your thumbs
should be next to each other or crossing. Twist
your Huh Ri, and apply pressure. Remove
Dando and execute Ahneso Phakero Cha Gi.
