| Kodama Dojo is a small group of dedicated folks who train in the modern budo of Aikido. The particular emphasis of training at our school is the development of effective self-defense skills that will equip the student to realistically apply "in the real world" what they learn in the dojo. As such, our training methodology revolves around 4 basic principles: not getting punched, kicked, grabbed or taken to the ground. As a modern budo, we seek through hard training to further develop our mind, body and spirit to become better people and better citizens. Kodama Dojo is a charter member of the Makoto Aikido Kyokai (MAK), an association of dojos under the direction of Larry Reynosa, rokudan (6th degree black belt). The MAK is directly affiliated with Hombu Dojo in Japan. All dan ranks (black belts) are issued directly by the Doshu. Our chief instructor is Lt. Bob Whaley (shodan), a veteran police officer who brings his years of experience into the dojo. |
