| Connecting Games Online |
| Games can be
played online or offline. The only way to play with other human
players is by online play though. if you wish to play by yourself,
simply sit down in a seat.
If you wish to play an online game, you have to decide a few things. First, one person must assign themselves as the Host computer. This is done by clicking the "Host Game" checkbox. When the Host checks this box, the IP field (a series of 4 groups of numbers, i.e. 127.0.0.1) will be filled automatically with some numbers. Depending on your internet connection these numbers may or may not be correct. If you have a cable modem, they most likely will be. If you have a dial-up connection like a normal modem or even DSL, it most likely is a false IP address. For those with dial-up, you should be able to find the correct IP address, by clicking on your connection status icon (on the windows taskbar) and looking for your Client IP address, and simply typing that number into the IP field in the game. The host may choose to change the port number as well, but that most likely isn't necessary. Finally, the host needs to then hit the Connect button, this will allow others to connect to the host computer. |
| Once a host has been determined; and that host is "listening" for others to connect, the others may now connect to the host. This will be done by the host telling the other users what the Host IP is, along with the port number if the host changed it. The other players will type in this info, and then hit the Connect button. There should be a message in the text window saying they are not connected if successful. |
| Also note, the players will all way to put in their own names, or id's into the text box that contains "Nickname". If no one does, every message in the chat window will be seen as from the same person. |
