KOdaganallur UrAtchi has been adjudged one of the two best panchayats  in Tamilnadu and recommended by the state  for award of Best Panchayat in the country.

Geography, and Demography

  • Kodaganallur is situated 15 km west of Tirunelveli. 
  • Six villages form the Kodaganallur Uratchi--they include: Kodaganallur, Nadukkallur, Kizhakkallur, Kizhakkallur MGR nagar, Vadakku Pudukkudi--Kallur, Battankallur- CR colony.
  • The Uratchi falls under Manur Uratchi ondriyam.
  • To the north of Kodaganallur Uratchi is Seedaparpanallur; to the east is Pazhavur; to the south is Pathamadai; to the west is Melakkallur.
  • There are 1125 permanent households in the panchayat, and the total area is 1370.64.5 hectares.
  • The total population of the panchayat is estimated at 7793 (2001).  Among these, 5589 are literate.  The male: female ratio is 1:1.02.
  • The population density was 243 per sq km in 1991, and 569 in 2001.
  • Literacy was at 65% in 1991, while it was at 72% in 2001.
