Japan '03 - Ending 05/22/03

Back
Goodbye Japan :(

The Scenery

The one great thing about traveling to another land is to be able to see the beauty that the new land has to offer your eyes. I kept my camera quite busy trying to capture the moments that were in my mind. Sometimes you see things and all you can do is stare in amazement and awe. I wished that I were able to make a movie of everything that I was able to see, but I guess I will just have to settle with faded memories and my photos....

Change

Have I changed now that I have visited Japan? Has the world been different since I've been gone? This life of ours was given to us by chance and by whatever forces that is beyond us... We live our lives not knowing where we are going tomorrow. The path ahead sometimes seem so unclear, but sometimes you just walk and you don't know where the road leads you, but you are able to find your way..... you find your way to a place that you know you were meant to be for that moment. That saying does apply "you never know where the road might lead you." Have I changed now that I have visited Japan?.......

The City of Kyoto

I find myself missing Kyoto the most. I have never been a fan of the big city and all its glitz and glam. I think that's why the lure of Tokyo has never appealed to me. The commercialism has not hit Kyoto that much. The culture of the city if so rich yet it still has the advancement of a major city. Being there for only a short time, I was still allowed to taste the spirit of the city and the people that occupied it. I guess I am biased because I was able to stay in a great Hostel, J-Hoppers guest house. It created an environment that was something that I had never really experienced in my travels. It created an atmosphere in which interaction was capable and friendships were able to be made. One thing I was able to remember the most was just being able to sit and talk with everyone that passed through. I remember talking to Aki, owner of the Hostel, and listening to his stories on his travels throughout the world and life experiences. I was just amazed at all the knowledge and all the little pieces of information I was able to learn about each person that had come into my life in the past weeks. Now I still wonder how everyone is and where they are.
