TEAM KUNUNURRA WINS 18 MEDALS AT ALICE MASTERS GAMES
Members of the Kununurra Cycle Club (KCC) won a total of 18 medals (10 gold 4 silver and 4 bronze) at road, track and triathlon events over the week of the Alice Springs Masters Games (ASMG) ending 18th October.

Marian Floyd won 2 gold in the Criterium and 40km Road Race plus silver in the 20km Time Trial, whilst Trevor Floyd won 5 gold in three road and two track events plus a Silver in the track sprint.

Keith Baldy Good grabbed only one bronze medal in the road events (Time Trial) but won 2 gold and a silver in three track events, not surprisingly, as he is the current Track Champion for his age group in the Northern Territory.

George Kemble surprised with a Bronze in the road Time Trial and then claimed a further two bronze medals in the Track Flying 200 and Sprint events, culminating with a bookies result Gold medal in the 10 lap Scratch Race.

Chris Done had an interrupted preparation for the Triathlon but performed admirably to clinch the silver in that event.

As well as Team Kununurra, Jesse Mortensen competed independently for Kununurra in the Duathlon and Triathlon winning two silver medals (missing gold in the Tri by only 26 seconds). He left Alice Springs immediately after the Triathlon to contest the Canberra Half Marathon next week. On his form in Alice he could well be a chance for a podium in Canberra.

Kununurra has made its mark at the ASMG over many years with Chris Done a consistent performer, and in more recent years joined by Cycle Club members in particular Keith Good and Trevor and Marian Floyd have proved themselves as worthy competitors.

At these games, rumours were rife that the Tour de France Devil had made a visit to the Tour de Alice, but after some investigation it was found that it was just a ring in from the KCC, proving that Kununurra members were top sports in every sense of the word.
