He was a Tok'ra operative, and the mate of Tok'ra Jolinar. He was devastated by her death. His love of Jolinar transferred to Maj. Carter, who held her memories. He grew over time to love her for herself but their relationship was cut short when Martouf fell victim to zatarc brainwashing. After attacking a man he believed to be the US President, Martouf appealed to Carter to take his life, and she did. Carter was later reunited when with Lantash when he blended forcefully with Lt. Elliot during Zipacna's attack on the Tok'ra stronghold on Ravenna. Lantash was able to tell Carter that Martouf had loved her too.
