Sprinting and Learning Jail Ball

 

Learning Outcome: TSWBAT

Individual and Dual Activities

·        demonstrate ways to throw an object at a target with increasing accuracy

·       select and combine activity-specific motor skills involved in individual and dual activities

 

Objectives: TSWBAT

·       sprint and catch a ball

·       throw a ball to a sprinting person

 

Materials:

·        2 Foam Balls

·        2 Hoops

·        Pylons

·        Pinnees

·        Have Gym set up for the activity

·        Tell students to change, run around the gym three times, and sit in circle

·        Begin with stretching activity

·        Students still in circle, but not able to hit one another

·        Run around gym and sit at circle

·        stretch

5 min

·        Ask to return back to circle and sit

·        Explain about use of whistle

·        Demonstrate and discuss activity today

·        Safety awareness

·        Ask if have any questions

·        Line up on line and make 2 groups

·        Choose 2 people to begin as passer’s

·        Return to circle

·        Discuss

·        Line up on line

 

10 min

·        Students start activity; watch and observe

·        The groups line up; one person is at the hoop ready to pass the ball

·        First person in line sprints to parallel point of thrower and catches the ball

·        The sprinter becomes the passer and the passer goes back to the line

5 min

Only Do this Activity if there is Time, Play the game more Next Period

·        Ask to bring back balls and sit in circle

·        Explain the game Jail Ball

·        No contact

·        Can’t hold more than 10 seconds or run with ball

·        Must hit below the waist

·        If hit then go into opponents hoola hoop and stay until tagged by teammate

·        Ask if have any questions

·        Line up and choose two teams

·        Team 1 get Pinnees

·        Choose two captains

·        Rock, Paper, Scissors

·        Play game

·        Return balls and sit at circle

·        Ask questions and listen

·        Line up

·        Team 1 gets pinnees

·        Each captain comes to center and does rock, paper, scissors for possession

·        Play game

Conclusion:

·        Ask students to return equipment and sit in circle

·        Ask questions

·        Tell them to change and then line up at the door

·        Return equipment and sit in circle

·        Discuss

·        Change and line up at door

 

Assessment:

·        Behavior

·        Skill ability with throwing, sprinting, and stretching
