Objectives:
The
student will be able to:
- Warm-up
and stretch for activities

Materials:
- One
mat per group
- Gym

Lesson Implementation
Hook:
What are some of the parts of the upper body?
What are some exercises that work the upper body?
Have a discussion about push-ups. What
area of the upper body do push-ups exercise?
Procedure:
- Tell
students to change and run around the gym at least three times; and after
help with taking the mats out
- Emphasize
the importance of running in one direction (Clockwise)
- Tell
students to form a semi-circle and do stretching exercises with them
- Ask
some students to help demonstrate stretches from last class
- Make
sure there is enough room between each person so they don’t hit one
another
- Have
discussion about push-ups (See Hook) and demonstrate.
Have one student demonstrate and show variation for people who
can’t do push-ups. Emphasize
the importance of form and bring up about the crunches.
- Place
students in pairs and for each pair to grab one mat
- Observe,
if some students finished early show a variation.
Make sure each person does four sets
- Tell
students to bring in mats. Place
four mats spread throughout the gym
- Have
students play game exercise tag
- Tell
students to clean-up and change
Conclusion:
- Conclude
lesson with exercise tag
- Sum
up the lesson if there is time
Extension:
- Exercise

- Choose
4 people to be on “It” team
- “It”
people with the ball must stay in one spot
- Throw
ball below waste
- When
hit by ball must go to a mat and do at least five push-ups. Make sure to have correct form. Then part of “It” team
- Halfway
through the game switch to kicking the ball; still must hit below waste.
Tell students importance of kicking ball carefully and not hurting
anyone else
- Play
until two or three people are left. Can
play another round if have enough time

for Lesson:
- Students
learn to warm-up and stretch before a rigorous activity

have a chance to teach their classmates how to do the exercises

game at the end that allows them to integrate the focus of the lesson
