Resources for the PE Unit Plan

http://www.sports-media.org/

Numerous resources and lesson plans for Physical Education.  There are many pictures of how to do specific track & field events.  There are also activities that a teacher can use to develop students track & field skills and to make a track & field unit a fun experience.

http://www.pnc.com.au/~stevebn/training.htm

This is a great site for teacher’s and students to learn how to become a good sprinter.  One article in particular mentioned that it is very important people are relaxed when they are sprinting.  The article goes on to say that good sprinters should have no problem running long distances as well.  People also have an opportunity to subscribe to a list serve and receive ideas for sprinting by email.

http://www.trackcoach.com/

This is a very useful site, which provides tips and articles about track & field events.  It also provides health tips such as running in cold or warm weather.  However, the program section does try to get visitors to pay for advice.  It might be useful if you have the money, but there is plenty of other useful information on the site.

http://www.runnersworld.com/

There is a lot of information on this site for running.  Most of the information relates to marathon running, but one can attribute the tips to anything for running programs.

http://www.funattic.com/game_list.htm

I was very impressed with this site.  There are numerous games for various situations.  Everything from classroom games to outdoor games.  One of the topics is Relay Games and this definitely attributes to fun games for track & field.

http://www.edinburgh-scout.org.uk/games/

This site has numerous games from the UK!  This site was impressive much like the previously discussed site.  There are many games on this site for various topics, which include relay and obstacle games.  Each of the games are simple to understand for children.

http://2002.uen.org/html/curriculum.html

The Olympics are upon us and wouldn’t it be great to integrate it with the PE curriculum.  This site has numerous lesson plans for different age levels regarding PE and other subjects across the curriculum.

http://www.westomahawind.org/high_jump_workouts.htm

Workouts for the high jump, but can be used with any track & field Event.
