LIMERICK INSTRUCTIONS - page 1
Materials:
Limerick workbook pages 1 (Instructions), 2a & b (Worksheets) and 3 (Poem ideas). pencils unpitched instruments (barred instruments - optional)
In groups of 6, your task is to write a limerick of your own.
1. Go to page 2a
2. Create your own limerick Remember the structure of the limerick Note the rhyme scheme, the number of lines or phrases, the non-sense nature of the lyrics.
3. Remember to mark in the macrobeats. Refer to your copy of the limerick poem that was done in class.
4. Remember NEATNESS COUNTS and every person must write the group limerick poem in their own workbook.
5. WORK COOPERATIVELY. Each person should contribute ideas.
6. Practice your poem to perform for the class. Everyone in the group keeps the macrobeat going through body movements.
7. If you are experiencing difficulties creating a limerick, refer to page 3, there are other verses you can use.
Extensions:
1. Create 1 or 2 ostinati to compliment your limerick. Select instruments for your piece. Keep in mind word syllable/rhythm patterns when selecting instruments.
2. Practice your chant and instrumental version of chant
3. Do a limerick on your own.
