Back To FAME

Think About the following as you complete your lesson:

Global Objective (I.R.P.):

This should be taken from the IRP package for the subject being taught.  It is a broad goal.  ie. TSWBAT:

Specific Objective(s):

This is a more specific objective.  One that focusses on a particular skill or concept in a subject area.

Materials:

Include in this section all the possible teacher and student supplies / materials.  Organize all your materials in the right spot before you begin your lesson.  ie. Be ready by 8:30 am. for a lesson before lunch and be ready by 12:15 pm. for a lesson in the afternoon.

Lesson Implementation:

Hook:

This is where you will excite the students about your topic.  Think about different strategies you can incorporate here and the importance of the presentation in setting the tone of the lesson.  Usually this is brief under 10 minutes.

Procedure:

1) How will you make connections to your hook? to your objectives?

2) What are you going to ask the children?  Write out key questions?

3) What strategies will you choose to address all your learners?

4) Clarify Assignments / Activities - outline the steps on chart paper or use cards to slot in pocket chart or have instructions on the board prior to beginning the lesson.

5) Have an example ready to show the class or do a demonstration for the class or bring in illustrations.  Model exactly how you want it done.  ie. Instructions should be given verbally and then reinforced in at least one other way.  How will you organize this ahead of time?

6) Will this be an indivdual, partner, or group activity / assignment?  If in pairs or in groups, how will you make this happen? how will you organize this?  ie. Teacher should arrange ahead of time groupings - organize students for success, have a list to read out and monitor that students are working with the correct partners/groups.

Conclusion:

How will you add closure to their learning/ this lesson.  ie. do a group share, review objectives, concepts, skills, etc.

Assessment / Evaluation:

How will you check for understanding?

How can you tell if students are on task?

How will you give the students feedback?

Will this activity be marked to check understanding of skill?  Will you do this as a group or will the teacher mark it?

Will it be discussed later on?

Is it going home?

Potential Problems regarding lesson and possible “What if”:

How will you modify / extend learning?

What if they finish early?

What if they don’t understand the skill or concept being taught?

What if they are unhappy with their partners / groups?

What if there is too much noise?

Reflection:

What went well

and

What would you do differently?
