Objectives:
The student
will be able to:
- Draw
a portrait of their partner in a sports card format
- Write
a positive remark about their partner and their stats
- Communicate
their positive feelings of others through art
Introduction
Motivator:
Does anyone collect hockey cards? Well,
I am going to play The Hockey Song.
Procedure:
- Place
the lyrics of The Hockey Song on an overhead and start playing the
song on guitar
- After
the first verse, tell the students they can sing along if they want to
- Encourage
discussion after the song. What
are some features on hockey cards? Why
do they put these features on a hockey card?
- Explain
to students that they will be split into pairs and have to do a Classmate
Card of their partner. They
will have to write a positive comment about the person and mention their
name, grade, and their division.
- Split
class into pairs and students begin their art assignment.
They first draw a line with a pencil using a ruler 6cm from the
bottom. Then they draw the
person’s portrait with pencil first and then color with felts.
Write comment and statistics on bottom of page in pencil.
