LIKES

DISLIKES

ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES

§         Online adventures, takes you to a specific place, interactive with sounds and image, mini movie, kids would like this too. Sustainable Sea Expedition, Monterey Bay, has interactive games with great information about the Kelp Forest.  Gallery has excellent photos.

§         Lesson plans section, has a feature bout Rivers.  Great images and ides for the classroom.  Interactive exploring a river system, with student handouts.  Educator/student activities from K-grade 12, god activities and layout.

§         Would have liked to see more photos.  Only two samples of kelp, there is many more types than this.

§         Lesson Plans and activies only showed the connections to the United States education system.

WORLD RESOURCES

§         Maps and Geography, link to solar system, nice images and facts.  Star chart very good for astronomy unit.

§         This section also has printable maps of the world, excellent for classroom projects.

§         Star chart a bit small to see all that was crammed in.

MULTICULTURAL CONNECTION

§         Cultural connections, I found a page in association with national geographic for teachers explain Afghanistan culture and conflict.

§         Comes with a lesson plan and interactive map to use in the classroom.

§         Xpeditions has lesson plans covering culture shock that can be adapted for any level.

§         Maps and materials must be ordered and bought, not free.

§         Connections to the curriculum are for the United States.

§         Homework Help has great connections to individual subjects, this could be very useful for a teacher who needs to teach a subject that they do not know much about.

§         Still quite American based topics, I found a lack of Canadian content, you as a teacher will need to adjust for lesson plans.
