Learning Outcome: predicting words from pictures

Objective: to guess the word your partner is drawing within the time limit.  If the person(s) cannot guess the correct answer then the other team has a chance to steal a point.

Hook Motivator: Today we are going to play a game.  What are some activities or materials where you can identify words from pictures?

Procedure

You can use this game with current topics being taught in different subject areas such as science or language arts.  You can also offer more than one word for the person to draw and have words that are worth one point or two points.  If there is enough time, you can have students color their drawings after the game is over.

Materials:

Some terms to use in game:

Things Found in a Classroom: pencil, ruler, calculator, math book, desk, chair, lights, floor, teacher, students, lunch, picture, map, globe, books, journal, pencil sharpener, eraser, bin, sink, period, exclamation mark, and question mark.
