Story & Music

Objective:

How to use music & story

Summary:

1. Catherine did a great lesson on Music and LA for her presentation.  We simply sang and dramatized a story as the CD played in the background.

2. Let students rap a story.  They can use hand drums (or other percussion instruments) for effects, to keep a beat...

3. Have students compose music for their stories.

4. Students could choose music for particular characters and discuss why that music suits the character. Students could choose music that suits a particular story and discuss why the music is appropriate.

5. Use music to tell the story- how can percussion, woodwinds, strings, etc tell a story (can use a Peter and the Wolf kind of thing)

6. Lip Syncing to a CD individually or small groups; also develops public speaking and presentation skills

7. Singing your favourite song to an audience. Band-in-a-box allows students to create their own Karaoke soundtracks

Comments:

Each one of the ideas above needs to be developed into a microteaching lesson. The P.L.O.'s need to be examined so that the original concept of Story-time is still one of the focal points. After you've created a microteaching lesson, go back and check to see if any other points in this title or the other titles have been included. There might be cross-over. Note this connection to other areas. Thanks.
