Story & Drama
Objective:
How to use drama & story
Summary:
1. Dramatize and film story as an iMovie.
2. Puppet shows
3. Write a script from a narrative story
4. Have different groups dramatize different stories using technology to compose scripts or for music or visuals.
5. Have different groups dramatize different groups of characters and use new media to help in the presentation.
6. Have individuals dramatize specific characters and use new media to help in the presentation.
7. Have students create a scene that depicts a story they heard the previous day / hour - probably done in groups
9. Have students create their own stories-probably done in groups
10. Create a tribal setting where the class sits around the fire after a days work and tells the story of the day: celebrate achievements, make decisions about the class (could be a class council kind of thing too). Could post a class story on a class website. (This idea probably integrated Social Studies). One could bring in a visitor / guest to share an experience with the class. This guest could be another teacher, student from another class, the principal, a parent, etc.
11. Have students tell the same story from the perspectives of different characters in the story: can use many formats to do this.
12. Class Plays (Reader's Theatre)
13. Every student gets the chance to play director
Comments:
Each one of the ideas above needs to be developed into a microteaching lesson. The P.L.O.'s need to be examined so that the original concept of Story-time is still one of the focal points. After you've created a microteaching lesson, go back and check to see if any other points in this title or the other titles have been included. There might be cross-over. Note this connection to other areas. Thanks.
