Kendall "Blaade" Merrill

Born in Hialeah/Miami, Florida. Grew up fishing, diving, and playing music until nineteen years of age when I moved to Maine. Culture shock.. Maine was so slow (boring) and finding people to make music with was tough. I joined the Navy at twenty to try something new and ended up spending 20 years 20 days and 20 minutes with Uncle Sam. I've visited 30 countries (loved Spain the most) and 14 states in that time.

My favorites include the colors blue, dark purple and black.

Favorite music is Classic Rock, Jazz and Progressive rock. I love classic rock because it was NOT formatted for radio. No one writes 7-10 minute rock opera's anymore. Those bands were as creative as they wanted to be without sixty something tracks of garbled samples. The lyrics were either deep, easy, or just plain weird. My first real band was kind of a rock-ish country band. At just over seventeen years old I was the youngest in the band by about twenty years. I've played with cover bands over the years in Florida, Maine, South Carolina, and Cuba.

One night while playing in a small place/dive, there was a door behind where the drums were setup. As the night went on we were playing a simple (un-inspiring) song so I decided to lean back and relax a bit. Well, the door I was leaning back on opened and I went tumbling back into a store room. The band did not miss me for a minute or so! I got up set my throne back up and went right on with the beat. I got all kind of notes from the patrons..."What can the drummer do next?" "Does he play upside down?" ..etc.. ect.
