Ken "Dad" Black

Born Bastille Day in Champaign/Urbana, IL - Raised in the cornfields of Illinois. High School letterman in Football, Cross Country, and Track 'n Field but not exactly an outstanding student. The phrase "He has the aptitude, but he just won't apply himself" always seemed to come up. I started playing keyboards in a band while in High School, picked up the guitar in early 80s. I've played in 60's, Classic Rock and Metal bands in and around the Central Florida area.

"It's the high that gets me off playing music, whether it's for 10 or 1000 it's better than any drug I've ever done.

My favorite artists/bands: Sabbath, Scorpions, Clapton, The Supremes (really dig the old Motown Sound), Collective Soul, AC/DC, Pink Floyd/David Gilmore just to name a few

My first concert was Steppenwolf in 1969 at Eastern Illinois University. They were great and I was completely blown away.

Now anyone who has seen me play knows that one of my legs is always bouncing to the beat. One night a place in Palm Bay Florida that bouncing was causing the mic stand to rock back and forth on there rickety old stage. Well as I turned my head to sing the microphone came crashing back into my mouth with a rather loud thud splitting my lip open. So here we are cranking out this fast and furious tune, the blood and the tears streaming down my face and the people in the place just went nuts...(they thought it was staged)... Afterwards a couple of them told me it was the coolest thing they'd seen since Gene Simmons at a Kiss concert...Go Figure
