91 Prelude springs

Ingals camber corection kit.
lowest setting
I decided to go with coilovers becaue of there virsatility.  I wanted to be able to lower my car on the street, and raise it in the mud.  I have not yet found out how ajustable these specific springs are, but if they are like most coilovers it should be about 0 to 4 inches.  They are euro coilovers because they have two springs that are put together. They can be bought for around $150 or $170 after shiping on ebay.  I have had them on for about 3 months now and have had no problems. The front is raised .5 in. from the lowest setting, and the back is raised about 1.5 to 2 in. from the lowest setting.  The ride is stiffer but not unberable.  I had my Grandmother in the car for a while and she never complained.  She didn't even mind the muffler and I hate it
Legaly you are only supposed to lower your car 1.5 inches, that is no fun.  Who is going to know.
Any Who
Step 1
Raise the car, take off the wheels duh. Support it well because you will be banging on it a lot.
Step2
Ok, hardest part, first take off the bolt that goes through the shock and the lower control arm.  This is the hardest part because when it goes through the control arm there is a bushing, and if you force it you will tear the rubber out of the bushing.  Then you will have to order them through Honda no fun, and they are about $20 each.  You could also replace the entire crontrol arm, but that gets expensive.  We replaced one of the front ones for about $45 from a junk yard.  The best bet is to get a really good impact wrench with about 500 ft/lb of torque.  I am prety sure that this will work.  We will see how David's car goes.  You will have to have this anyway to unload (take the spring off of the shock) the stocks and springs, unless you want to take them some where to have them unloaded (safe way).  A regular spring compressor will not work bacause the stock springs are wound to tightly to get the arms of the compressor into the springs.  On the
front it is posible to take the shocks off without taking them loose from the lower control arm.  There is a bolt that clamps the shock in to the stering fork (it is on the back).  The stering fork straddles the drive shaft and the shock is conected to the top of that, take it loose there.  We didn't find this out untill laiter, but learn from our mistakes right.
Step 3
Lift the hood and take off the plastic cover over the nuts that hold the shock in place.  There are three in the front and two in the back.  The fronts are easier to get to, on the back you have to take out the carpet or just bend it out of the way enough to get to them.
Step 4
Take the stering conector loose from the upper control arm or at the upper ball joint same thing.  This is the place where the camber is ajustable.  You will see the slots in the arm where the ball joints can slide in or out.  After you take it loose you will be able to pry the suspension down enough to get the shock and spring out.  When you have it out you can either take them some where and have them unloaded (safe way) or you can do it the Charlie way (only if you have an impact wrench).  First lay the spring and shock on solid ground, and stand firmly on the spring.
Get everything out of the way. Next take the impact wrench and slowly unscrew the nut on the top of the asembly while still standing on it.  It may take a second, but it will come off if you have a good enough wrench.  When the nut comes off the shock will shoot out of the bottom of the spring. After you do one you will know what to expect the rear ones are not as bad.
Step 5
Putting the new springs back on should not be a problem.  On mine the smaller spring in the kit was very easily compressed.  Then put the nut back on and tighten it down. When you have it put back together you are ready to put it back on the car.
Step6
Put it back on the car you know, just work backward.  Put it back like you found it like a good boy or girl, and if you are a girl and are doing this then you need to call me (Charlie).
-Note when you put the ball joint back on be sure to pull it all of the way out in the slots before you tighten them down.  If you have the camber corection kits you put them on here, and get an alignment.
-Note On the rear if you can't get the bolts out of the control arms then you can take off the plate that they are bolted to.  It only has four bolts in it and is easy to take off, but it is heavy and bulky so be careful ( its not going to kill you but be careful).

Sorry no pictures, but I will have some soon..
David's car soon also
