| Stoic and apathetic, Hayama was first introduced as the 'class monkey boss' that turned Sana's school life upside down. Hayama is easily classified into the 'silent, strong and wickedly sarcastic' type of anime guys we often see (and love). However, there's a slight quirk in Akito-kun that makes him just much better than your average Heero Yuy. ^_^ Hayama is real. He's a kid with the headphones, the rebel attitude and an undiluted gaze that freaks anyone (aside from clueless Sana:) He's also a kid who's cynical, pessimistic, yet throught the mute front, desparately wants acceptance, love and something out of this life. | ||||||||||

| My opinion on Akito: Hayama is a complex character, and I like him because of this. I love the raw-ness of the boy, the fact that he sees the world so flawed and keeps a knife in his backpack, the fact that he's blunt and will only respect someone if they had earn it. Akito is a very straight out honest in your face character, he retains an air of superior authority and is seemingly... unaffected by the world around him. Seemingly. It's interesting because he has to be one of the most vulnerable characters in the show. Akito's character development throughout the show and how easily Sana affect his mask is fascinating to watch. When he does let others affect him, Hayama is much more human, and quite lovely that is, as this show is quite human (despite some not so human characteristics... *cough* Sana. *cough* Squirrel. *cough*) Oh yeah, this doesn't seem to fit his character, but Hayama is a huge pervert.
