I sighed and walked around the counter to open the back door for Jesse and Greg.
I let them in and said, Im almost done making this batch of cookies. Jesse
smiled and said, What kind? Greg looked around as if looking for something,
but didnt want to ask for help on finding it. Smiling, I answered, Peanut
Butter Cookies, its part of your gift. Im just putting them in the oven now. I
picked the cookies trays off the floor and set them on the counter next to the
bowl. I scooped in with a spoon and laid out the cookies in rows. After filling
up all four of the cookie sheets, I set them in the oven and sat down at the
kitchen table. Greg took a seat next to me and Jesse sat on the other side of
me. Jesse asked, So, what did you get me? I laughed, Im not telling you and
you arent going to find it lying around! He wrinkled his nose and Greg said,
So you didnt get him a car? I laughed and replied, I dont have that much
money. Minutes later, as the silence grew t!
hicker, the oven bell rang, telling me the cookies were done. I stood up and
grabbed an oven mitt, I shut the oven off and pulled out all the cookie sheets
and took the cookies off with a spatula. Jesse reached out for one, but I caught
him, Jesse! You cant eat them yet, not till I actually give them to you. He
crossed his arms over his chest and mumbled in a small voice, Okay. I sat down
and handed him a cookie. One for now, and the rest for later. I said as he
smiled and grabbed the cookie and ate it. Greg and I both laughed as Jesse said,
Yum! Those were good! I chuckled, Well, I did finish them in record time.
