Chapter 5

At last they arrived at 842 Cafund Street. And at last they could close the case once and for all. Danny and the others got out of their cars and walked slowly over to the house. Danny shot a glance at Kelly, and looked back at the house that approached. It was rather big, mini mansion big. The house was pushed far away from the street so they had a long way to walk up to the door. Already Danny was intimidated by what he saw. Most of the super rich people in Erekita weren't the nice people in the world.

Danny arrived at the wooden door of the house and pushed the button next to the handle. No sound.

"That's odd," Matt said.

"Maybe the house is too big to hear it out here," Tom suggested.

"No, not that. That!" Matt pointed a little past the door at a broken window. Even though those may have been common anywhere else in the US, in Erekita it just did NOT happen.

"Yeah, that is weird," Mary Kate agreed.

"Hello?" Hilary screamed through the window. The sound of a racket came from inside and at last a man pulled the door open. He looked to be in his early 30s, with a slightly shaved head. He definitely needed to shave again because the short blonde hairs stood low but bright. He wore baggy pants with a very loose T-shirt. He had a piercing in his left ear, with a golden cross charm.

"What do you want?" the man asked, "I'm busy."

"Are you Michael Weiss?" Aaron asked him.

"What do you want?" the man repeated.

"We're looking for Michael T. Weiss," Angel told the man.

"What do you want with him?" the man asked them.

"Why do everybody answer questions with questions in Erekita?" Francisco groaned, "Look, we want to talk to him about something so is he here or no?"

The man sighed and opened his door a little wider, "Come in." They all looked at each other hesitantly and one by one filed into the house. The man led them into a living room and motioned for them to sit down. They did, and he stood next to the couch.

"What is it you want?" the man shot straight to the point.

"Eew...what is this?" Kelly moaned as she pulled a towel with stains of red on it from under her. The man ran over to her and snatched the towel from her hand.

"I told you I was busy," the man ran out of the room and disappeared.

"Oh my fucking God, was that BLOOD!?" Angel blew her top.

"What the hell is going on here?" Aaron asked them.

"We gotta get out of here!" Danny yelled. Without even showing any signs of agreement before they did so, they got to their feet and sprinted toward the door. Before they could even get out of the living room, the man returned. A bloody butcher knife was in his hand, and he was holding it tight, looking at them with intense anger in his eyes.

"Where are you going?" the man asked in a rasp voice.

"Uh..." Francisco said. Everybody went quiet.

"Sit the hell down," the man said, pointing his knife into the living room. Everyone bent back to avoid the blade and backed away, running to sit down.

"Now, what you see is just an illusion. I was cutting up a chicken for dinner. That's all, got it?" the man said.

"Y-Y-Yeah Mr. Killer sir," Hilary said shakily. Aaron thwacked her on her side.

"Tell me why you are here," the man said.

"Uh...the...the...the disappearance of Lalaine Paras," Danny worked up his bravery to tell the man. The man shook his head.

"I don't know anything about her disappearance," the man said.

"Are you Michael T. Weiss?" Matt asked him.

"That be me," the man said with a false smile. He chuckled lightly, expecting the rest of them to follow. Nobody did or said anything.

"We found your name at the crime scene," Francisco said.

"No...we like, so totally found his glove. Not his name," Angel laughed. Francisco shot her a DAMMIT face and she frowned, "I get nervous when I'm scared!"

"Ok, so, yeah we found a glove with your name in it," Francisco said, giving Angel a serious glare. She blushed and Francisco looked back at Michael.

"My glove...? Black and leather?" he asked.

"Yeah..." Kelly said, looking at Tom. She was getting scared. Now that it was confirmed that he knew what glove they were talking about, they knew he was the kidnapper.

"What did you do with Lalaine?" Danny stood up and grabbed Mike by his collar. The man smiled widely, looking at Danny, then down to the butcher knife that he was still holding, and back at Danny again. Danny caught this and slowly released Mr. Weiss.

"Yes...well, I don't have a single idea where she is. Those gloves were stolen from me the night before yesterday."

"You liar," Aaron stood up to back up Danny. Francisco and Matt followed, but Tom was too busy holding Kelly to think anything more of it.

"Well, why do you think that window is broken? Because I woke up one morning and hated everything?" Michael did another laugh, and once again nobody followed him in doing so.

"Do you know who did it?" Tom asked from the couch.

"Not at all," Mike said, "Now if you'll excuse me, I have some dinner I have to finish making. So I trust you can show yourselves out?" He walked away from them and left them alone.

"I don't trust him," Mary Kate said as she stood up. They all began walking out of the house.

"I know, I mean, he's very unbelievable and stuff," Kelly said, holding Tom's hand as they walked.

"Cutting a chicken for dinner? Can't you just buy those at the store?" Francisco asked.

"Not if you're lying, you can't. Something is up there...I think we should spy on him a bit," Danny suggested.

"Yeah, I agree..." said Angel.

"But...you guys...that's invasion on privacy and stuff and we can get in real trouble for that," Mary Kate groaned.

"Who cares? I mean, you can get in trouble from kidnaping people too. Let's do it!" Matt started to think it was a good idea.

"Not without some kind of weapon of protection," Aaron said, "If he finds us we'll be in big trouble. And I'm not talking illegal trouble. He'd probably kill us."

"Uh, yeah, that's gonna make us want to do this," Hilary scoffed.

"We need to get this done. For Lalaine...half of us will stay and spy. The other half will look for more clues," Matt suggested.

"How are we going to pick who stays and who goes?" Francisco asked.

"Flip a coin for two people," Danny instructed. He pulled out a penny and they all stopped walking.

"Ok...but there are 9 people here," Tom said.

"I'm staying no matter what," Danny made it known.

"Why don't all the guys stay and the girls go look for clues?" Angel asked.

"That's better!" Kelly said, shoving Tom away from her lightly. He stumbled over to the rest of the guys, and the other 3 girls walked away from them.

"Ok, we'll park the cars elsewhere and...you guys go and hide," Hilary pointed at them.

"What about the weapons?" Francisco asked him.

"You guys have guns," Angel chuckled. All the girls looks at each other and laughed. They all walked away from them.

"What guns?" Kelly asked as they walked away.

"Their muscles..." Mary Kate shook her head and they walked into the street. The guys all looked at each other and jogged back into the house.
