{A Love Lost}

With genuine love,
You came upon me.
A not quite innocent dame
Afraid of a love so deep.
Hurt by the careless man,
Scarred by the sweet-smelling rose,
And saddened by a love she hadn't known.
A king of many riches, you were -
Of wealth, power, and love of your own.
You trudged through the dark forest,
Full of gloom, cold air; but a faint ray of light
Shined down upon me . . .
A weak and tattered lily
Darkened by Sorrow.
But you saw what many kings had not -
Delicate petals, a sweet aroma.
You plucked me from the black soil
And carried me close to your heart.
I sat as a beautiful femme
In your reach; for you to love.
And today I've breath'd my last breath,
Being placed in a secret chamber of your heart
Dried and lifeless . . .
Yearning for a sip
Of your love for me
That you share only with your soul.
And dying for the warm light
You once showered me with . . .
As the last bit of life
Drips from my petals.
