| The basic types of yarn are: fingering or baby, sport, worsted weight, chunky, and bulky. Each type of yarn works best for certain things. Fingering, or baby yarn is best for delicate items, such as socks. Bulky would be great for scarves or hats. | Some yarns, depending on what they are made of, are a bit rough and scratchy. Others, such as the "Beautiful" and "Angel Hair" in the picture above, are very soft. You can get wool, silk, suede, acrylic, nylon, buffalo... the list of types of yarn goes on and on. eBay is a great place to find yarn, or if you have a LYS they may be able to special order something for you. Have fun getting familiar with all the yarn world has to offer!! |
