Forever Knight
~
Standalones~

I have to stop myself from writing sequels. I just like to see a story keep going and going and going... So if a story is here, this is where it stops. Unless, of course, I am sufficiently bribed and I can come up with a decent idea to keep it going.

Stuff in green is the rating, faction affiliations and dedication, if any. Stuff in silver is the placement of the story in the FK timeline. Dates in white italics are the projected month of posting, while dates in red italics are the actual month of posting. Please note: projected dates of posting are subject to the crushing forces of Real Life. ~AF

Special Note: As of April 2004, all Season Two stories are arranged according to the production order of the episodes.

Heartshine (March 2004)
~1216: A short piece dealing with Nicolas's love for Gwyneth. (Light Knighties, Harpers--the made-up N/G faction. Dedicated to Deborah Hymon, who unintentionally teased me into writing this.) (Pre-first season. Takes place sometime during the flashbacks in 'Queen of Harps.')

The Artist Cunningham
~1909: Old as he is, Nicholas Cunningham feels that there is little left in the world to excite his jaded eyes. But early one evening, he sees something in a patch of woods that not only excites him, but terrifies him as well. (Light Knighties, Dark Knighties.) (Pre-first season. Based on the short story "Gabriel-Ernest," by Saki.)

"'There is a wild beast in your woods,' said the artist Cunningham..."

Ripe Plums and Bay Rum (October 2003)
~1992: Natalie comes up with a unique way to test Nick's control. (Adult. Dark NN for KC--Happy Birthday!) (Takes place after 'Dance By the Light of the Moon.)

Eternal Rest (October 2003)
**Written for the 2003 Crusader Newsletter Halloween Fanfic Contest

Takes place between 'Spin Doctor' and 'Dying for Fame.')
Parts: 1 2 3 4

LaCroix: "Religion is created out of a mortal fear of death. Who are you to tell this man not to grieve and worship as he wishes?"
Nick: "This is not religion. This is a sham!"
   LaCroix: "There's a difference?"

Poetry in Motion (July 2003)
~1993: Nick discovers Natalie's hidden talents. (Adult. Dark NN for Phylis--Happy Birthday!) (First season. Takes place after '1966.')

In Desert Waste or Crowded Street (October 2003)
~1995: Nick and Schanke go to check out a homicide at CERK, and Nick has to confront both LaCroix and his guilt. (Light Knighties, Nunkies, CotK) (Second season. Takes place immediately after 'Curiouser and Curiouser.')

"Farewell, dear friend, and when we meet,
In desert waste or crowded street,
Perhaps before this week shall fleet,
Perhaps to-morrow..."
-- Lewis Carroll

Christmastime in the City (December 2003)
**Winner of the 2003 Yuletide Award for Best Non-Adult Fiction

~1995: Nick prepares to spend another Christmas alone. (Dark Knighties, DarkNN.) (Third season. Takes place after 'Strings.')
Parts: Prologue 1 2 3 4 Epilogue

The Subtle Forms of Control (December 2003)
~1996: Fearing that Nick is nearing complete meltdown and having exhausted all other options, Natalie goes to LaCroix for help. (Knighties, NatPackers, Cousins) (Third season. Takes place after 'Human Factor.')

LaCroix: "If Nicholas truly wanted to end his life, he wouldn't tell us about it."

Strong Man's Ashes (September 2003)
~1996: LaCroix's confession at the Raven, told from his point of view. (Cousins of the Knight, absolutely.) (Third season. Takes place during 'Ashes to Ashes.')
