| Knighthood So many things need to be said and never are. So many things are started and never finished or even carried out! What does it mean, today, when a man claims to be something above the rest? What standard does he possess that all else find missing in their bag of goods? I will tell you and when I am done I hope you will strive to be one of us, the very best, a Knight in shining armor! In the days of old we were called Knights and today some of us are still strong enough and wise enough to live up to the title. It does not come easy and there is no certain path that you can seek in which to find and obtain this title. It is a title that is earned through your own deeds. Deeds that are not designed to produce wealth in your pocket or fame for you in the city or town you occupy. However, it seems that sooner or later these good and sometimes great deeds lead to this very thing, fame and fortune, for those few who go beyond the call of duty. It is within the formation of a Knight that these things are considered and recognized by the very people he serves. For it is a lonely road, the road to Knighthood, and each one of us is unique in our own ways due to the very path we chose. We live in our own little world between God, nature, and the sacred duties of knighthood. Only those who have come to grips with this can and do realize the true nature of being a Knight! You are either part of the solution or you are part of the problem! When you understand this concept you will then be faced with a choice. Do I accept the ultimate challenge of being a Knight with all of its positive and negative facets? Or, do I sit back comfortably, and resign myself to be less than the best that God or Nature has designed? It now comes to the point in time where the actual specifics need to be scattered out on the table. I will now explain to you what it means to be a real Knight. Charge Given to the Knights by King Arthur God make you a good man and fail not of beauty. The Round Table was founded in patience, humility, and meekness. Thou art never to do outrageousity, nor murder, and always to flee treason, by no means to be cruel, and always to do ladies, damsels, and gentle women succour. Also, to take no battles in a wrongful quarrel for no law nor for no world's goods. Thou shouldst be for all ladies and fight for their quarrels, and ever be courteous and never refuse mercy to him that asketh mercy, for a knight that is courteous and kind and gentle has favor in every place. Thou shouldst never hold a lady or gentlewoman against her will. Thou must keep thy word to all and not be feeble of good believeth and faith. Right must be defended against might and distress must be protected. Thou must know good from evil and the vain glory of the world, because great pride and bobauce maketh great sorrow. Should anyone require ye of any quest so that it is not to thy shame, thou shouldst fulfill the desire. Ever it is a worshipful knights deed to help another worshipful knight when he seeth him a great danger, for ever a worshipful man should loath to see a worshipful man shamed, for it is only he that is of no worship and who faireth with cowardice that shall never show gentleness or no manner of goodness where he seeth a man in any danger, but always a good man will do another man as he would have done to himself. It should never be said that a small brother has injured or slain another brother. Thou shouldst not fail in these things: charity, abstinence and truth. No knight shall win worship but if he be of worship himself and of good living and that loveth God and dreadeth God then else he geteth no worship here be ever so hardly. An envious knight shall never win worship for and envious man wants to win worship he shall be dishonored twice therefore without any, and for this cause all men of worship hate an envious man and will show him no favour. Do not, nor slay not, anything that will in any way dishonor the fair name of Christian knighthood for only by stainless and honorable lives and not by prowess and courage shall the final goal be reached. Therefore be a good knight and so I pray to God so ye may be, and if ye be of prowess and of worthiness then ye shall be a Knight of the Table Round. I would like to add one thing to clarify a problem that keeps coming up. That problem is the one about religion. In this Order we recognize God as a Higher power or force and I do not claim to know what that force is. I am as disgusted with modern day religion as anyone and I am not going to wait for some unknown entity to save me or my people. I am going to do it myself! If you are a person who believes in faith and all that jazz then that is fine you can still become a Knight. But we expect you to work for our cause so if you want to pray do it on your own time. Sorry if that is too blunt but that's the way it is. My Bible is the 88 Precepts. The Charge given to the Knights of the Round table refers to Christian Knighthood. This charge was written a long time ago. We are not Christian anything! We used it to give the viewers of this site a glimpse of what was in store for them and to show them the type of integrity that we try to build into each and every one of our members. We are as noble as any have ever been. We have standards and we make sure our Knights are the absolute best. For those who think this is sheer fantasy~ I recently opened a letter from a man who asked me why I was living in a fantasy world? He said "you are living in a dream world pal, Wake up"! I sent him a message and it said " If you think that this is just fanciful thought then read the words of the 88 Precepts, the Charge given to the Knights of King Arthur, take the Knights Pledge, and take the Knights secret oath. Then see if you are man enough to live up to those words for even one day"! He did not respond! You see, on the front page of this site it says "All men die but their ideas live forever". It is this very idea, the words on this site that live forever through the men who are capable of making the idea become a reality. It is every Knights belief that he can and does make the world a better place by doing just that. Our weapons may have changed over the years but our philosophy has not... For a better people~ For a better world... Sir Whistler |
