| Fan Fiction Knights of Gotham would be proud to have your contribution to our Fan Fiction Area, whether or not it fits in with our own series! What is Fanfiction? These are original stories by fans that use trademarked characters like Batman, Huntress, Catwoman, Scarecrow, etc. What can I submit? The focus of this website is on the people of the Bat-books. So keep that in mind. Unless you have an absolutely amazing story, any fiction outside the Bat-books, (though some exceptions might be made if it's a DC Comics story) such as Marvel, will probably not be accepted. We know, it's unfair - we love Spidey, too! Though if someone were to submit a cross-over... |

| What will automatically not be accepted? We will NOT - repeat, NOT - accept stories that contain pornography. Keep your stories clean. Also, language. This is important because there is a little gray area. OUR stories do not contain naughty words for the most part, and if the rating isn't G it's because of some other factor such as intensity or scariness. BUT, some of the stories that are not ours DO contain some language. The reason it's there is because, well, WE didn't write the story, and we don't have that liberty. These were also stories that we ASKED for, not submitted. SO: Any story with a language rating higher than PG found in submissions will have some of the words either be replaced with something less foul or eliminated, unless we feel the word is necessary or better left unaltered, and that is the ONLY case in which it will be kept. But that's after careful consideration. We know it sounds harsh, but please respect these guidelines and it will makes all our lives easier. If you've got a great story and we think it's not suitable for a general audience, we might post it (key word: MIGHT), but with a rating, warning readers of the more mature content. But this is a RARE exception, and it would have to be a positively, absolutely FANTASTIC story. The rule is, keep it PG or a PG-13. However some PG-13 storied might not be accepted, and the choice is left to the webmistresses discretion. As for violence, unless it's extreme. (and plese limit the blood and gore, please, we will not base our decision of rating on that. **Yes, the rules may seen strict, but that's our policy. If you have a problem with these requirements, feel free to contact us. We're pretty understanding people despite what you may think.** Requirements: Length: We don't give an actual limit, but if it's really long, divide it into parts to make it easier on us. You can label chapters or have page breaks with astericks or SOMETHING to give the reader (as well as us) a hand. The stories should be free of racism, sexism, bigotry, profanity, defamation, and obscenity, and anything else that falls into that category. If a certain character is a racist, but the story revolves around how racism is wrong, that's a different story. Use your best judgment. We reserve the right to reject submissions for content, length, and quality of prose. We also reserve the right to edit pieces for grammar, punctuation, spelling, and clarity, and such. Profanity may be dealt with as stated previously. Reccomendations and Reviews This is pretty self-explanatory. Pick a Bativerse-related or DC-related comic, movie, or book, and tell us what you think about it; or recommend one or more of your favorite Bat-books/comics/movies, and tell us why we should read/watch it. However, some elaboration is necessary on a few points. What can be reviewed/reccomended? Any comic book or book or movie can be reviewed or recommended, with the exception of works of a pornographic or obscene nature. If it isn't obvious in the article, please indicate what you're reviewing. Again, it must fall under the category of either the Bativerse or DC Comics. What's the difference between a review and a recommendation? A recommendation outlines both the strengths and weaknesses of a comic/book/movie, why you like it, and why you think the reader/watcher might like it: you are encouraging the reader/watcher to try the comic/book/movie. **If you're recommending an item, recommend it. Don't trash it. If you're contributing, we're hoping it's not saying how horrible the item is. A review also discusses the strengths and weaknesses of a book/movie, but often gets into specifics, and approaches the material with a more neutral, critical stance. The general plot, main characters, and the theme are some good elements to include. We probably won't accept a review that keeps saying, "It's bad, it's horrible, I hate it." It is perfectly fine to point out some weaknesses, but this is supposed to be a neutral look at the item. Requirements: Length: between 100 and 1,000 words. If you include "spoilers" (information that will give away essential points of the story), put it at the top of the review so we can warn people before they read it. The articles should be free of racism, sexism, bigotry, profanity, defamation, and obscenity. Even if the item is about, say, racism, you are NOT allowed to be racist in your article, for instance. That WILL NOT be tolerated at all. We reserve the right to reject submissions for content, length, and quality of prose. Please ensure that facts presented in the articles are accurate, including the correct spellings of proper names. We reserve the right to edit pieces for grammar, punctuation, spelling, and clarity. Again, the reviews should be on DC comic or Batman-related stuff only. |
