Financial Secretary Robert Payne offered a toast to the Ladies, and Chairman Filipczyk read a poem written by Brother Ed Ashe in praise of the Ladies. Everyone enjoyed a very filling and delicious dinner with two verities of lasagna provided by Former District Deputy (FDD), Past Grand Knight (PGK) Charles Taylor, assorted cold cuts and cheese provided by Brother Roy Cloud, and a lovely salad provided by Edna Brown, PGK Bill Brown's Lady. The friendship and warmth of just enjoying a meal with the Brother Knights and their Ladies filled the room.

Bob said the recipe was special for St. Patrick's Day. Grace and PGK Tom Moran supplied four loaves of Irish soda bread. After the soup and bread, the group enjoyed some quiet conversation and a video travelogue of Ireland supplied by Ed Ashe. Mrs. Cecilia Farley, Chairperson of the Parade Committee, and her husband, Frank, were guests of Isabelle and PGK Jack Gallagher.

A Memorial Service was held on April 1, 1997, at the Mount Olivet Cemetery to honor the memory of Bernard M. PGK Bill Donahoe, Chairman of the Editorial and Historical Content Committee, did a stentorian job of carefully reviewing the Council records and writing the history. PGK's Charles Taylor and William Brown III selected and furnished the pictures. PGK Tom Moran helped with editing and Computer support. PGK John Gallager secured advertisements to help defray the cost of publication. Many Brothers supplied memories, photos, and support. On November 26th, Washington Council was delighted to have PGK Guy V. Bellia, Chairman of the Usher Ministry Committee at the Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, review the history and service potential of the Usher Ministry at the National Shrine. The Usher Ministry began in 1982 by mutual agreement between the Supreme Knight, Virgil Dechant, and the Director of the National Shrine, Msgr. Bilsky. Prior to that, ushers were selected from the congregation at the Mass, and on occasion a few ad hoc ushers forgot to collect donations from their section. The Supreme Knight wanted Knights from the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia to bring organization and security to ushering at the Shrine. Knights agree to usher at least one Mass each month at Our Lady's Basilica. The Shrine provides the blazer, slacks, tie, pocket badge, and lapel pin for the usher's uniform (see PGK Bellia's photo). The usher provides a white shirt, black shoes, black socks, and black belt (no Karate pun intended). Approximately 80 ushers are needed each weekend for seven Masses: Saturday 5:15 pm, Sunday 7:30 am, 9:00 am, 10:30 am, 12:00 pm, 1:30 pm, and 4:30 pm. Those who are available during the week can also volunteer to usher pilgrimages. The Supreme Knight treats the Usher Ministers and their Ladies to an annual dinner at Byrne Council on the Sunday after Mother's Day. Anyone interested is invited to submit an application (available at the Council) signed by GK Ben Filipczyk; the Chaplain, Rev. David W. Beaubien; or one of the current Usher Ministers from Washington Council No. 224: PSD John C. Moore.

Fifty adults, teenagers, and children enjoyed the Family Christmas Party on December 14th at the Washington Council Home. The children were delighted to receive gifts from "Santa's helper," Brother Harold Watson. Several trays of sliced cheese, ham, and turkey, provided by Chairman Chip Lacey, quickly disappeared, followed by cakes and cookies of various types. GK Ben Filipczyk and Brother Brian Madigan led the group in singing Christmas carols and songs of the season. The children had all sorts of prizes when the strings of a clown piata were pulled. PGK, FS Robert Payne III, although absent, won the Annual Turkey Raffle. Both smokers and non-smokers seemed to appreciate the Board Room "Smoking Lounge." Several young people joined in an impromptu game of pool. A big THANK YOU for a job well done to Chairman Chip Lacey and his many "elves": Ted and Susie Hirt, Brian Madigan, George Sitgraves, Joe Guiffrida, Robert Di Giulian, PGK Tom Moran and the Taylor Family.

Washington Council No. 224 hosted the District of Columbia State Council Mid-Year Meeting and Training Session. Approximately thirty State Officers and Directors, Grand Knights, Financial Secretaries, Membership Directors and other subordinate council officers attended the session. Assistant Supreme Secretary Carl Anderson represented the Supreme Council. The video "Sign 'em Up," featuring PGK George Gains (deceased), PGK Ben Thompson, PGK Calvin Lynch, and other District of Columbia Knights, was shown. In the video, Supreme Knight Virgil C. Dechant emphasized the importance of recruiting new members. The video capped an enthusiastic exchange of ideas on membership, insurance, program, and other interesting subjects. PSD John Moore suggested that the three councils celebrating centenary events, Washington Council No. 224, Keane Council No. 353, and Carroll Council No. 377, join together for a dinner at St. Josephat Council in the Spring of 1998. Washington Council provided complementary hot-dogs at 11:30 a.m., and many of the visiting brothers stayed to watch the Redskin-Giants game on the Council's large-screen TV and share a beverage or two.

The Council was saddened to learn that Washington Council's remarkable membership director Robert H. Lacey Jr. respected and admired by so many, passed away on Christmas day. In a motion made by Guard Maurice Mann at the January 13, 1998 Council meeting, the First Degree Exemplification held that evening was dedicated in memory of Washington Council's membership director Robert H. (Bob) Lacey, Jr.

Washington Council held its annual free throw basketball tournament at St. Ann's gym on Sunday, January 25, 1998. Thirteen boys and girls participated in a vigorous competition, cheered on by parents and teachers and members of the Council. From a formal recommendation submitted on February 5,1998, the Executive Committee approved naming the Council library in honor of David A. Taylor. For over fifty years, the Taylor name has been synonymous with Washington Council. The tradition commenced when Charles Taylor convinced his brothers Harry and Melville to become members. Of the brothers, Melville, entered the priesthood and twins, Charles and Harry, eventually were elected Council grand knights. Later David - son of Charles and Agnes - would join, thus continuing the tradition. Of all the members, over the one hundred plus years of Washington Council's existence, David Taylor, is the only member to have served as grand knight for three straight years (1994 to 1997). David, in the great Taylor tradition, has proven to be a valuable asset to the Council and for some time encouraged the Council to provide an in-house library for members to utilize. The library is now a reality thanks to the efforts of PGK David A. Taylor.

Msgr. O'Donnell addressed two topics at a well attended council meeting on February 24th. At first, Msgr. entertained the council with a very humorous description of his experiences in the army as an infantry officer both at home and overseas. He received the Silver Star, two Bronze Stars, two Purple Hearts, and the Combat Infantry Man's Badge in connection with active service. On a more serious topic, he discussed the lack of overall preparation at the time of death, drawing on his experiences as Director of the Catholic Cemeteries of the Archdiocese of Washington.

In March 1998, the council was saddened to learn of the passing of PGK Edmund F. Jones, Sr.

March 15th saw Washington Council's contingent of St. Patrick's Day Parade marchers: DGK Robert R. Di Giulian, sons Greg and Nick, GK Ben Filipczyk, Advocate Joseph I. Guiffrida, Chancellor "Chip" Lacey, and his wife Laurinda, George Sitgraves, and GK David A. Taylor. Displaying the American and Irish flags, and the Washington Council Banner, they marched proudly up Constitution Avenue, followed by the vintage 1954 Mercedes-Benz sedan 224 official car.

Approximately 50 Knights, their ladies, and guests reveled at the St. Patrick's Day Parade Party on March 15th. Everyone had a wonderful potluck dinner of potato soup (provided by Ed Ashe); St. Patrick's cheddar-potato soup, boiled beef, cabbage, and potatoes (FS PGK Bob Payne); Irish soda bread (Moran family and Jack and Isabelle Gallagher); shamrock cookies and cupcakes (Ted and Susie Hirt); green and white chocolate shamrock and heart shaped candies (Jill Filipczyk); and chocolate birthday cake (Beth Di Giulian). Brother Eugene J. Pawlikowski and Stephanie Di Giulian led Irish songs. FS PGK Robert D. Payne III won the 50-50. Miriam Moran won a special Irish door prize provided by Ted and Susie Hirt, a bottle of Argentinean Chardonnay (taken by her dad) and a book on How The Irish Saved Civilization. DGK Robert Di Giulian celebrated his 40th Birthday with a huge sheet cake and lots of candles. Robert blew them all out with one breath.

Thanks to the generosity of Msgr. Ramon A. di Nardo, our former Chaplain, and PGK William E. Bromley, Jr., the PGK David A. Taylor Library was off to a great start. Msgr. di Nardo donated several bookcases and about 500 books, pamphlets, and audio tapes, covering a myriad of subjects, such as, art, cooking, foreign languages, music, philosophy, psychology, and religion. PGK "Sam" Bromley donated a complete Encyclopedia Britannica.

On April 14, 1998, Washington Council's First Degree Team exemplified the lessons of the First Degree to two new Washington Council Knights. The exemplification was witnessed by a good number of Washington Council members, despite the impending Federal and State tax filing deadline the following day.

Knights and their Ladies celebrated the 101st Birthday of Washington Council No. 224 in the Council chamber on the evening of April 25, 1998. Our Dinner Committee headed by Madeline Law and Isabel Gallagher arranged for Cornucopia Catering Inc. of Frederick, MD, who did so well on the 100th anniversary dinner, to cater the buffet. The evening started off with an cash bar and a fine spread of cheeses, vegetables, crackers, and a hot spinach and marinated artichoke-heart dip. Reverend David W. Beaubien, our Chaplain, joining us briefly between two weddings, blessed the Knights and Ladies. Everyone appreciated Father's effort to be with us considering his heavy schedule. Our Worthy Grand Knight Ben Filipczyk made everyone feel welcome. At approximately 6:00, the members and their Ladies retired to the Council chamber for the buffet. The buffet consisted of plates of sliced ham and turkey, hot stuffed red-skin potatoes, two vegetable plates and dip, several types of rolls and croissants, a choice of red and white wines, and for dessert, decaffeinated and regular coffee and the anniversary cake. A dinner for two at J. Paul's Georgetown Restaurant was won by our Financial Secretary, PGK Robert D. Payne, III and his Lady, Marylou. DGK Robert Di Guilian introduced the two Past State Deputies in attendance from the District of Columbia State Council, Gustav S. Webber and John C. Moore. He also introduced the Past Grand Knights of Washington Council. GK Ben Filipczyk acknowledged long-time members and their ladies, in particular the Brachs, Mollers, Spelmans, and Vaughans. The main speaker, 101st Anniversary chairman PSD John C. Moore, gave a brief history of the life of Fr. Michael J. McGivney, Founder and first Supreme Chaplain of the Knights of Columbus and told us what to do to promote his cause for elevation to saint: learn about Fr. McGivney and pray. To aid in this, PSD Moore provided beautiful pamphlets on "The Life and Legacy of Father Michael J. McGivney" and prayer cards which GK Filipczyk and DGK Di Guilian distributed to the throng.

At the Council meeting on May 27, 1998, new member Robert J. Haggerty, Esq., addressed the Council on the advantages of a revocable living trust over simple wills. A revocable living trust allows a person to control his property while alive, providing for consolidated, professional management; can provide for disability, name a Disability Trustee and establish special disability instructions; and can save taxes, professional fees, and costs. Moreover a person can revoke it at any time. Mr. Haggerty is a member of a national network of estate planning attorneys.

On June 9, 1998, Washington Council's First Degree Team exemplified the lessons of the First Degree to one new Knight who is a member of Cardinal O'Boyle Council.

The June 28th Past Grand Knights' "Pot Luck" dinner was an affair enjoyed by all. A delicious variety of dishes were provided through the generosity of the attendees. Rev. Patrick Dempsey from Annunciation Parish said Grace. GK Ben Filipczyk spoke after dinner, acknowledging the help of many Knights and Ladies. He presented Outstanding Service Award plaques to PSD, PGK John C. Moore; PGK Robert D. Payne, III; and PGK William E. "Sam" Bromley. The Outstanding Family of the Year Award went to the Moran family. (See picture page 2.) The Outstanding Knight of the Year Award plaque was presented immediately after the PGKs' Party to PGK Charles E. Taylor at Sibley Memorial Hospital.

The news that Chaplain Beaubien would soon be transferring to St. Andrew the Apostle in Wheaton, Maryland, brought emotions of both joy and sorrow. Joy for Father in his new position and sorrow at his leaving as our Chaplain. It was noted that it would not take long for his new parishioners to discover his kindness, caring and multi-talents. And we Knights will remember that even though his popularity at St. Ann's kept a demanding schedule, Father Beaubien always found significant time for his Brother Knights at Washington Council. His Council Masses and messages were always special as well as the spiritual guidance he provided to individual Knights and their families.

Grand Knight Ben C. Filipczyk (1998-1999)

Grand Knight Ben C. FilipczykMr. Alvaro J. de Vicente, Director of the Tenley Study Center, our neighbor on Garrison Street, NW, spoke at the July 14th Council meeting. The Center focuses on four areas: professional, personal, family, and spiritual. The spiritual foundation of the Tenley Center's programs in entrusted to Opus Dei, a personal prelature of the Catholic Church. Two chaplains are in residence, and Mass is celebrated every morning.

Washington Council was honored to have so many of the clergy of the local parishes attend "Clergy Night" on August 11, 1998. From St. Ann's Parish: Rev. Msgr. William J. Awalt, Pastor of St. Ann's Parish; Rev. Msgr. Robert O. McMain, former Pastor of St. Thomas Apostle in residence at St. Ann's; and Rev. David W. Beaubien, Associate Pastor of St. Ann's and Chaplain of Washington Council for the past five years. From Annunciation Parish: Rev. Patrick Dempsey, Associate Pastor of Annunciation Parish, our new Chaplain and guest speaker. From the Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament: Rev. Msgr. Thomas M. Duffy, Pastor of the Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament. It was a great opportunity to meet the clergy in a social gathering and learn how the Knights could help the local parishes. Rev. Patrick Dempsey gave a very interesting auto-biographical sketch of his "other vocation" as a cartographic librarian at the Library of Congress. Joe Guiffrida, our Advocate, provided a sumptuous feast: a plate of cheeses and crackers, various cold cuts and rolls, potato salad, cole slaw, and a fruit bowl. After the meal, everyone enjoyed a large sheet cake.

At the Council meeting on September 22, 1998, PSD, PGK John C. Moore spoke about the origins, life, religious mind, steadfastness, and courage of Christopher Columbus, and critical role he played in the European discovery of the Americas. He spoke about the history of honoring Columbus, how the Knights of Columbus chose him as their namesake, although there were many other logical names that could have been chosen at the time. He gave a brief history of the Columbus statue at Union Station. At the unveiling, 2,000 Knights from around the country attended. Over the years, more and more groups joining in the Columbus Day ceremonies. John urged the members to become members of the Washington Columbus Celebration Association. PSD, PGK John C. Moore also presented Washington Council with a Framed photograph of the ceremony honoring Christopher Columbus at the Union Station Statue and a complete collection of Columbus Day Programs for the PGK David A. Taylor Library. John also shared with the members his fine collection of Columbus memorabilia (shown on table in picture). Models of the Nia, Pinta, and Santa Maria; a translation of Columbus' diary on October 11, 1492; various photographs of the ceremonies honoring Columbus over the years; books, pamphlets, and posters honoring Columbus; and even examples of the vicious statements made by detractors of Christopher Columbus. It was a fascinating and informative display enjoyed by all present at the meeting.

At Annunciation Parish, GK Ben Filipczyk was invited to address the parishioners and spoke of the importance of the Knights of Columbus to the Catholic Church and the need to seek new members. At the 10:00 a.m. Mass, Rev. Msgr. James Montgomery followed up on GK Filipczyk's address and eloquently spoke of the KofC's wonderful works and how the KofC came to the aid of Catholic parishes in financial trouble, including Annunciation; and urged parishioners to consider joining Washington Council.

The following Sunday, the Committee formed in front of the Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament with another positive response. Many thanks to Rev. Msgr. James Montgomery and Rev. Msgr. Thomas Duffy for allowing Washington Council this opportunity. Special thanks as well to all the members of the Membership Committee: Gonzalo Ponce, PGK Thomas Moran, George Sitgraves, and Chairman, PGK David Taylor.

At the October 27th Council meeting, PFN, PGK George Chapman entertained the members with many humorous anecdotes and reminisces of his days at Notre Dame and Catholic University. Father Malloy, who came from St. Anthony's in NE, and won 72 straight games for Carroll High School, went to Holy Cross Seminary and became President of Notre Dame. Father Malloy's father was PSD of the District of Columbia State Council and a Knight for 50 years. He noted how, at that time Father Fulton J. Sheen, who taught him voice, diction, and elocution, at Catholic University, had a knack for making one do one's best.

The annual Memorial Mass for deceased members and family members was well attended at the Tenley Center Chapel on Saturday, November 21, 1998. Father Patrick Dempsey celebrated the Mass honoring the deceased members: Kyran P. Carey ; Frank Farrell; Joseph A. Kinslow; Col. Harry Knox; Edmund F. Jones, Sr.; Robert H. Lacey, Jr.; George F. Lynch; William P. Macones; C.C. Mitternight; Joseph J. Ryan; and Anthony J. Windheim. In addition, Edna Brown, spouse of PGK William H. Brown, III, was remembered in the Mass intentions. PGK Tom Moran led the congregation in several hymns for the feast of Christ the King. "To Jesus Christ Our Sovereign King" was the entrance antiphon. "Greg" DiGiulian read from the second book of Samuel, and PGK Tom Moran lead the Responsorial Psalm and read from the Letter of Paul to the Colossians. Father Dempsey read the holy gospel according to St. Luke. Brother Maurice Mann, Church Director, acted as altar server. Tom Moran lost track of the melody for the second verse of "O King of Might and Splendor" as the Communion antiphon, but the whole congregation made the walls reverberate with "Holy God We Praise Thy Name" as the closing hymn.

Starting with the blessing by Father Patrick Dempsey, our Chaplain, the reception after the Memorial Mass was very enjoyable. We were honored to have Brother Richard Kolf (Rock Creek Council No. 2797) and his wife, Georgia, as well as Mr. Walter "Scotty" Wright, Vice President of Tenley Study Center, as our guests. Mr. Wright took a few moments to tell the crowd about a new Madonna statue which was to be placed behind the altar of the beautiful chapel in which the Memorial Mass had just been held. The "Pot Luck" feast started off with Beef Stew (courtesy of the Payne Family), chicken and rice, beef and rice, potato salad, baked beans, tossed salad with Italian dressing, croissants, coffee, cookies, and chocolate cake. Marylou Payne played the piano at different times. Good company and fine food made it a very enjoyable event.

At the Council Meeting on November 24, 1998, Gerard "Gerry" Occhiuzzo gave an excellent explanation of the benefits of hiring a Realtor when involved in real estate transactions. He first explained that a Realtor differed from a real estate agent; although both possess a license, the Realtor belongs to the National Association of Realtors and therefore has access to the association's large real estate library and resources, and has to abide by a seventeen article code of ethics for Realtors. He said a Realtor is skilled in qualifying people. For example potential buyers may have more or less buying power than they assume. Being in a fiduciary relationship gives him certain advantages during follow-up, his inquiry does not reflect badly on either the buyer or the seller. Gerry said a Realtor is skilled at qualifying property as well. He mentioned that "Buyers' Broker" was a new term, but the practice had been around, and a buyer could always hire someone to represent him. Gerry also had some unexpected insights on which rooms are most important to a house sale.

The Family Christmas Party and Open House on December 13, 1998, was a joyous and sometimes frantic event. Approximately 40 adults and 10 children celebrated the day with food, fun, and frolic. Many Kudos to the committee Chaired by Youth Director Ted Hirt, organized by Susie Hirt, assisted by GK Ben Filipczyk, PGK Tom Moran, PGK David Taylor, and Family Director Joe Guiffrida. Susie provided delicious lasagna and green beans, GK Ben supplied the salad, PGK Taylor gave Italian bread, Joe the pecan pie, GK Ben and PGK Tom supplied the decorations. Teresa Buckoski won the Annual Turkey raffle and Kelly Shell and Ruthanne Humphries shared the basket of Cheer. Fr. Dempsey explained the secret meaning for Roman Catholics in the "12 Days of Christmas Carol" and the Christian witness of the "candy cane".

On December 15, 1998, Ceremonial Director (PGK) Jack Gallagher and the First Degree team Exemplified the First Degree for two new Brother Knights, one from Washington Council 224 and the other from Bishop Byrne Council 3877. The ceremony was also attended by District Deputy Eddie Oxford.

Washington Council members donated $545 to defray the costs of the Madonna and Child statue for the Tenley Study Center Chapel. The Tenley Center had ordered a carved stuffedwood Madonna and Child statue from Spain as a center piece for the Chapel behind the Altar. President Bromley of Washington Council Home, Inc., pledged to match donations by Washington Council members received on or before the end of Our Lady's month, May 31, 1999. This pledge was fulfilled in July 3, 1999 and a total of $1,090 was donated.

The June 1999 Newsletter article entitled "Tootsie Roll Campaign Was a Great Success" reads as follows: The Tootsie Roll Committee wants to thank the Safeway Corporation and churches for their cooperation in making a successful drive for Kennedy Institute. We want to especially thank those who helped collect the donations for the mentally challenged: PGK Sam Bromley, PGK Bill Brown, PGK Dick Curtin, Nick Curtin, Brian Fiffe, GK Ben Filipczyk, Bryan Madigan, and Treasurer George Sitgraves.

The Council deeply mourned the passing on June 12, 1999, of PGK, FDD John M. "Jack" Gallagher: Trustee of Washington Council Home, Inc., Member of the 100th Anniversary Steering Committee, Chairman of Washington Council's Ceremonial and Admissions committees, Captain of the First Degree Exemplification Team, perennial Chairman of the St. Patrick's Day Parade Party Committee, and member of more committees than I can remember. Jack joined Washington Council No. 224 in 1987. He was Grand Knight in the 1990-1991 Council year, a term filled with many innovations and accomplishments. Jack was a Former District Deputy (FDD). Jack could be counted on to help with any task, although he would always promise to be there on "the eighth day of the week." Friend and Brother, we miss you Jack. In the words of an old Irish blessing, "Until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of His hand!"

Grand Knight Robert H. Lacey III (1999-2001)

Grand Knight Robert H. Lacey, IIICouncil Memorial Mass and Christmas Party was held on December 18, 1999. The Washington Council annual Memorial Mass was held at the Tenley Study Center Chapel at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 18, 1999. The Council Christmas party followed immediately after Mass (5:15 p.m.) at Washington Council Home with a "Pot Luck" dinner, Christmas decorations and tree, and gifts and games for the children.

A stalwart, but hearty, few braved cold gusts on a bright and blustery, yet beautiful day to represent Washington Council No. 224 in the annual St. Patrick's Day Parade on March 12, 2000. DD Ben Filipczyk led the contingent carrying a large sign (made by Steve Pawlikowski) displaying the Knights Cross and the Council name and location. Our color corps followed. PGK David A. Taylor held the Stars and Stripes, DGK Joseph I. Guiffrida carried the Green/White/Orange flag of Ireland, and Treasurer George D. Sitgraves bore the Green/Gold "Erin Go Bragh" flag. With unerring skill, Jill Filipczyk guided the white convertible "Staff Car" through a maze of floats, horses and dogs, step dancing colleens, and jay-walking leprechauns of various sizes. PGK Tom Moran, suffering a swollen foot, waved from the front seat, while GK "Chip" Lacey and his lovely Lady Lorinda greeted the crowd from the top of the rear seat. Someone said 224 made the evening news.

Jubilee 2000 Celebration

By George Sitgraves

On April 1, 2000 The Knights of Columbus celebrated an international pilgrimage to the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception. Seven thousand were expected and ten thousand came. All were impressed by the majesty of the event. We observed the dignified procession of the Fourth Degree Knights. Prayed the Rosary with his Holiness Pope John Paul 2nd.,and celebrated the Mass with outstanding fervor. The crush of worshipers overflowed onto the Commons of Catholic University.

Brother John Bartley served as an Usher throughout the event and can verify the amount of effort it takes to have such a huge undertaking go smoothly. Hats off to all the participants. Kudos also to the hospitality of the Ukrainian Catholic Shrine. More than a few Knights and their families took advantage of repast in the newly completed shrine.

The presentation of the Guardian et Spes award to his Eminence James Cardinal Hickey and the Reconsecration of the Order to the Blessed Virgin Mary brought this beautiful day to conclusion. I can only conclude by echoing the salutation of the day "See you next Jubilee"

Washington Council held it's traditional functions, the Oktoberfest and Christmas party in December. The Knights of Columus as a whole was saddened when Pope John Paul II died on April 2nd 2005. The Holy Father was always a strong supporter of the Knights, and his loss was deeply felt by every Knight.

On April 19th, the Knights and the Church welcomed a new Holy Father, Pope Benedict XVI. The new Pope, as was Pope John Paul II, is a strong supporter of the Knights and their work.
