Hector deSabot, the EMERALD KNIGHT is the adopted son of the Hunter (a.k.a. Count Olous Sabot I) of the Westshire and immortal god of heroes. Back in the the 1030s, Hector was a Blade of the Highmoor, adventuring with such legendary figures as the orginal Watchdog. (Hector is even spoken of the bard's tale "Watchdog and the Green Death", where he battles alongside the super-barbarian against powerful insect-like horrors of terrible power.) Hector is not currently a public figure, choosing instead to keep a low profile. This may change with the Zombie War. His home realm, indeed all realms, are in peril and in this time of darkness the world needs those who will light the way. This is the task of the Mystic Knight.

Until 1101YAC the reclusive dragon-warrior wandered the world battling tyranny and Evil. He never stayed in one place long and always disappeared after battling whatever force he had chosen to pit himself against. Hector is known to have played a part in the emancipation of Dedite subject states in the early 1080s. Hector was gaoled for several crimes against the state in the period from 1050 to 1085 YAC. Oddly he is still recognized as a Mystic Knight, and is known by heralds as the EMERALD KNIGHT.

He bears a Black Shield, White Steel armour and an Emerald Blade which he wields with great skill. Hector's Black Shield symbolises his 'fall from grace' following his imprisonment, for no matter how undeserved, if a royal realm gaols a Knight that Knight bears this stain forever after until a great power lifts the burthen. This burden was largely removed through the proclamations of the Dark Elven bard Piper, who proclaimed Hector as the EMERALD KNIGHT after Hector's part aiding Piper in the early phase of the Zombie War.

Hector was originally an Emerald Myrmidon, created by Hunter when he sowed the teeth of an Emerald Dragon to create his first militia. Hector drilled with his myrmidon brothers and underwent mental training with Golden Knight, psionic adviser to the Hunter.

While Hector loved his brothers, misfortunes encountered while adventuring with the Blades of the Highmoor changed Hector, making him different from (and subject to abandonment by) his brothers. Hector went on with his mental training and, after many years of study, became a Mystic Knight - one of the few living in the World of Mystery. He has seen the future and the past. His response to witnessing these perceptions of Time was:

It is the nature of Evil to afflict that which is Good. Evil must be opposed, no matter the cost.

(Mystic Knights are similar to psionic ranger/paladins. They act as the worlds anti-bodies to Evil, opposing it wherever and however they can. Mystic Knights are trained to do this in many ways - fire & sword, cunning and politics, and by living their lives as an example of how Evil can be opposed. Mystic Knights are one of the cross-class kits detailed in the Mystic Warriors Sourcebook, on its way soon from Pisces All Media.)

Hectors primary weapon is his Emerald Blade, a glowing green sword with which he is supremely skilled - to the point where he can parry area-effect ranged attacks! While Hector is a trained telepath his talents lie heavily in matters martial over mental - possibly due to his dragon-heritage. His dragon heritage is still with him and he has a tendency to hoard treasure with him before he leaves it behind as he moves on into a new area, leaving it to those he has befriended. Hector has so far trained two apprentices who now fight the good fight in their own way. As Hector has also been a rogue, he has trained both of his apprentices in these skills also, emphasising abilities in stealth and evasion. He also carries a Hand-Bow of Speed and Accuracy, a magical bow that fires glowing bolts of energy. Hector is Specialised in its use.

Hector's last apprentice was a Gripply (a race of frog-men from the Jungle Peninsula), the clansman of Hector's Blood Brother Karek. The Gripply, Wild Arrow, was a very different type of student, again lending strength to the philosophy that every Mystic Knight is different. Wild Arrow is hot-tempered and undisciplined at heart, but was been able to manifest sufficient control to learn a Mystic Knight's powers and skills. As the Gripply are renowned for their abilities of stealth and ambush, Wild Arrow easily mastered these aspects of Hector's teachings. Wild Arrow fights with daggers and a short bow - the weapons of his people.

During the early phases of the Zombie War, Hector was grieviously wounded and while fighting to protect him Wild Arrow was slain by the Thinking Zombie of the Opposition. Wild Arrow rose again as one of the Fallen, Mystic Knights who have turned from the path of Good towards Darkness. Wild Arrow immediately fled the area into the caverns of the Deep Underdark. Wild Arrow will grow very powerful very quickly through serving the Opposition and through surrounding himself and his heart with Darkness. He will ultimately be consumed by that Darkness, but will commit great harm on the way. It seems the last act of Hector as Wild Arrow's teacher is to show him that the Dark Side is NOT more powerful.
