DAIKIN GUNDAI
A man cannot find out what he�s made of by running away.
Daikin is one of the Heirs of Skullcraig, the group of fated teenagers who overthrew Mogador the Demon-Dragon. But Daikin did not win that battle. He fell before the Demon-Dragon and became trapped in the Hell of Falling Burning Rocks. Daikin did not stay prisoner long. He reforged the broken Black Sword by plunging it into the heart of his ancestor Gundaman. The Black Sword reforged Daikin cut through the fabric of Hell and escaped. Once on the World of Mystery Daikin withdrew for seven days and seven nights and calmed the Black Sword, taming its spirit and swearing his life towards the goal of ridding the taint of evil from the blade forever.

The Black Sword
It is said that in an infinite universe, anything is possible. In all the Multi-verse, no soul has ever held sway and triumphed over the Black Sword - until Daikin Gundai refused to use its power or listen to its voice. He has done what no being ever anywhere has ever done, and turned the Black Blade from a force for Chaos, into an inert tool. How could this boy accomplish the task? When he was asked by the Blood-mage Zarmus, his teacher, what he wanted to do with is life, Daikin replied: �Avenge my people. Destroy the Immortals who plague this land. And restore the tribes of the Forest Kingdoms.� Daikin sees the world in all its colours and stark greys, but he acts with the clarity of vision of one who sees only black and white. Daikin has that Dark Barbarian mindset that sees only Right and Wrong - what is to be protected, and what is to be plundered and destroyed.
The Black Sword is now known as The Orphan. The legends that now spring up and circulate about the blade and Daykin's quest to destroy its evil permanently are gathered and collected in a remote monastry in the mountains of Mystery by on order of monks dedicated to preserving the legends.

Daikin approaches the challenge thrown his way with the mindset that he will succeed or die in the attempt. He fights for life, but he is ready to die, having lived each and every moment to its full, whether in battling giants, or eating and drinking his fill with friends. This ready acceptance of death gives him a remarkable power, a lack of fear and a determination to bend the world to his will.
