Towers in Ienos City and Freeport Destroyed
In a climactic non-battle in the Sekutharian city of Trochus, the Heirs of Skull Craig have destroyed the heart of darkness that held Mogador on the Prime Material plane. With Mogador's death, his forces worldwide are routed and the Free Realms triumph! The Heirs have celebrated the victory in Trochus with feasts and song before using a magical portal to go home.
The defeat follows attacks by Mogador's forces across the Free Realms for the past few weeks, firstly by enormous numbers of undead, then by mortal followers. The Heirs were instrumental in destroying the undead armies by providing the Prayer of Elevartus to clerics, who then spread the holy word across the world, destroying the zombie hordes.
At this time, it is believed that the Heirs will take a well earned break from adventuring.
The Emperor of the East has died whilst leading his legions in the triumphant repulse of the invading Zendi savages on the empire's east coast. The Emperor is succeeded by Empress Olagna Magna, his second cousin. She has confirmed that the Empire will be divided into north and south, but she will retain sole rulership of the city, spending the summer months of each region in that region's capital. The Empire is so large that its north enjoys summer at the same time as its south is plunged into stormy winter, and vice versa.
Olagna Magna's succession has ended many of the rebellions, as she is an extremely popular ex-Cleric of Love, and a widely-admired "honest woman" - a term for a non-oppressive tax-collecting female Senator.
She immediately took Mogador and the Dedites to task, threatening massive spell based retaliation should they not cease their hostilities. Mogador sent his answer in the form of a hundred Eastern Empire officers, converted to the most disgusting imaginable forms of undead, and teleported directly into the Imperial Palace. The Eastern Empire then unleashed seventeen Realm Spells on Mogador's Hellhaven Empire, to no apparent effect. The subsequent defeat of Mogador was welcomed by the Empress, who had already implored the Heirs to take action.
A fiery inferno has destroyed the massive towers in both Ienos City and Freeport. Both cities have overthrown their governments and restored the ancient rule of Captain's Councils. Freeport now has a sole chamber parliament, Ienos has an island chain government of two parliamentary chambers, the lower Starlight Council that meets only at night and the upper house Captains' Council. The Ienian Captain's Council also has the overseas colonial governors report directly to it.
