Members of the metahuman team, Silver Knot, were recently summoned to Empire City, capital of the Eastern Empire, to deal with a team of supervillains known as the Imperator. The team of villains appeared to be working together, their fates bound by an artifact resembling an hourglass. The Imperator turned out to be a renegade Guardian from the Sphere of Time, and the villains that the Silver Knot fought were but different aspects of that guardians nature. The battle against the rogue was won when Ironthorn destroyed the hourglass, thus destroying the Guardian.
The villains comprising the Imperator were: Limelight, a gladiator with the ability to divert opponents by making them relive old experiences; Minos, a minotaur mage able to bend time to his will; Slice, a psionicist able to create duplicates of herself; and Zone, a Druid of Time, able to create dimensional wormholes. Most of the villains were easily accounted for by the Silver Knot, but Zone proved the most difficult, only falling in a druidical duel to King Bud.
Having made Empire City safe again, the team left in order to deal with a rampaging gargoyle in Secomber.
"Only the valiant efforts of every citizen of Haranlarche can ensure the victory of the righteous over the pure evil of the Opposition," said Westshire regent and Silver Knot stalwart, Ironthorn, in a speech to his people.
A message from a group styling itself as the Heirs of Skull Craig thanked a number of unknown assistants, and delivered a warning to the Dedites.
The message, signed by Damma of the Clan Belfagor, thanked a number of unknown individuals for the assistance in reclaiming the birthrights of several of the Heirs of Skull Craig. Sages from Mythtropolis have linked this group to an ancient prophecy, referred to in the message, claiming that when Skull Craig is restored, the dominion of the Dedites will end. It is believed that this group is responsible for the freeing of Spirekeep from the Opposition forces that had overrun it.
As yet there has been no official response to the message from the Royal Haranlarche Court.
Who is the pretty young thing seen out and about with Rocco DeParle, a.k.a. Captain Rock of the Silver Knot, lately? This seems to be the question on everyones lips at the moment, ever since the eligible young sea captain returned from his latest mission, fighting gargoyles in Secomber, with the grey skinned lovely hanging off his arm. Could there be wedding bells in the future, or is this yet another casual fling for the heir to the DeParle fortune? And what of his Silver Knot team mates? Will this lead to a change in the membership roster? Perhaps these questions can be answered when Captain Rock returns from naval service against the Opposition.
Editorial
As you may have noticed, there is little information to be had about the struggle with the Opposition in this edition of the Gazette. Our sources of information have been unable to provide us with much by the way of updates to the status of the various battles ringing out across the world, and what information we have received is the subject of conjecture and speculation. We uphold our commitment to providing our readers with the truth, thus baseless rumour and speculation on the battles has no place in our publication, unlike certain other news sources.
But the absence of hard facts need not plunge us into doubt and despair. We are all aware of the stakes in this fight, but it does no good to assume that all is lost. In order to fight evil, to stave off the darkness, we can all light our own candles. Each citizen of Mythtropolis, of Haranlarche, of the World of Mystery should stop and ask themselves what they can do to ensure victory for the forces of light. It might be marching off to face the undead foes, or living life as normally as it can be lived - showing the Opposition that though we be bloodied,we are unbowed. Perhaps we can volunteer to provide refuge for fellow citizens driven from their lands by conflict, or provide aid to those recovering from wounds in one of the many hospices set up to assist victims of the conflict.
Everything that we do to assist is one more candle against the darkness, and one more guarantee of ultimate victory.
