The Silver Knot took their flitter 'The Silver Shot' for its first flight... and 'Dog displays even greater super-speed...
Minus Bud the Greenwood Druid-Ranger, who is still converting M'Wandrites back from their noisome state of daemonic possession, the Silver Knot flew off to the ancient city of Secomber.
Secomber (pronounced "See-Cumbah" by foreigners and "Sea Comber" by locals) is an old city, with first settlement dating back to the First Kingdom. Beneath its streets is a maze of sewers, and its streets themselves are also a winding maze of gnarled old cobbelstoned alleys and broad avenues dwarfed by looming buildings and pockmarked by illegally placed monuments, hawker's stalls, and hand-smashed entries to the sewers.
The Silver Knot arrived, berthing their unique skyship at the only sky harbour, the Imshardi Znubi Sky Docks in the grounds of Virchill Deparlay University, the centre for higher learning in Secomber and one of the city's newest popular institutions (established 1041 YAC).
Both Cardinal and his team-mate Shea O'Ryan fell foul of the revolting oppressive military police of the city of Secomber. Cardinal narrowly avoided death beneath the claws of a mysterious Greater Mummy. Shea O'Ryan has not much discussed what happened to him, but from the few things let slip to his team-mates, and from them transmitted via the OGRE Company, it seems the High Elf Champion was facing a horrific death by dissection.
After a series of grinding, relentless side treks that exhausted body and soul, the Silver Knot finally achieved their secret mission in Secomber, apparently related to retrieving another Shield of the Elements.
CAPTAINS' TABLE SKULLS TOURNAMENT BEGINS
SKULLS is a poker-like card game first taught to mortals by the Titan ATLAS long ago. It is especially popular with the command crews of sea, air and submersible vessels, probably because it is quick to play and still fun to try and master. The Captains' Table Tournament is held annually in rotation in Mythtropolis, Ienos City, Kalathrastus and Ravenscarp. In 1101 YAC it is being held in Mythtropolis at the Auctioneer's Guildhall on the first floor of the Onion Street Exchange between the 21st and the 28th day of Sevenmonth.
The first day of the tournament went off without a hitch, with all the expected Captains making it through to the second round on the following day. Most of the Captains who were there for the hard drinking and partying rather than the gaming took up their preferred positions at the Blind God Bar, with the hardcore cardsharps keeping minds as alert as possible for the ongoing card battles.
This pleasant carousing atmosphere was disrupted on the morning of the 22nd 7month when it was discovered that one of the Captains, Captain Alison Gar, had been MURDERED! The militia -and others- are investigating.
