PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Player of the week for (May 10th - May 16th) is OF Wally Berger of the Freemont Furtraders. This is Wally's first time winning the award after becoming Freemont's first round pick in 1930. Wally batted .423 (11-26) in six games with a slugging percentage of .923. On the week Wally hit three home runs, two doubles and a triple with seven RBI and six runs scored. Wally had at least one run and one RBI in all but one game this week and hit a home run in three consecutive games. Wally is currently on a eight game hitting streak and increased his batting average by almost twenty points from .235 to .253 during the week.

Other Player of the Week Candidates:

SP - Larry French of Harlem who for the week was 2-0 with an ERA of 1.06 allowing only two earned runs in 17 innings pitched. Larry started two games on the week with one ending in a complete game shutout and amassed nine strkeouts.

SP - Charlie (Chinski) Root of Freemont who was 2-0 on the week with an ERA of 3.71 allowing seven earned runs in 17 innings pitched, completing one game in two starts.

OF - Goose Goslin of Hattiesburg who batted .526 (10-19) with a slugging average of .895 with one home run, two doubles and a triple, knocking in eight runs and scoring four times himself.

OF - Earle (The Kentucky Colonel) Combs of St. Louis who batted .500 (12-24) with one home run and two triples, knocked in four runs, scored seven times and stole a base.
