HARLEM, FREMONT DEAD-LOCKED
Harlem and Fremont remained tied for first place in the NorthEast at 54-38. Sahara (47-45) rattled off 5 wins 
in a row and find themselves only seven games back. Pawtucket (40-52) remained in last place.
In the SouthEast, North Dallas (51-42) continued to stay two games ahead of Montgomery (48-43). St Louis 
(42-49) continue to play below expectations, wondering if they will have to wait until next year. 
Hattiesburg (32-60), victimized by Jihad hurler Gomez this week by going hitless, continue to sink deeper. 



GOMEZ THROWS FIRST DBS PERFECT GAME
On July 7, Sahara ace Lefty Gomez set down 27 DoubleWides in a row in route to the first perfect game 
in league history. Gomez, who upped his record to 6-9, had no trouble disposing of Hattiesburg, who are 
hitting a league-worst .213. Last year, Gomez was 13-8 with a 2.49 ERA. The last no-hitter in DBS history 
was on April 4, 1931, by Fremont's Rube Walberg.

Player of the week for (July 3rd – July 9th) is SP Lefty (Goofy) Gomez of Sahara, who pitched the first 
perfect game in DBS history. There have been two previous no-hitters but Lefty came through striking out four.
