WEEK 4, 1932



MONTGOMERY WINS 5TH IN A ROW, MOVES INTO FIRST
Fremont (17-9) continues to be off to their best start, as they have opened up a four-game lead over 
Harlem (13-13) and Pawtucket (13-13). Sahara (12-14) sits only a game out of second place. 

Montgomery (14-11) has won 5 in a row, allowing them to move past North Dallas (14-12) into first place. 
St Louis (10-15) has dropped three in a row, and are only a half-game ahead of the hapless DoubleWides (10-16). 



HATTIESBURG SENDS RIGGS STEPHENSON TO FREMONT
April 26, 1932 - Hattiesburg outfielder Riggs Stephenson was traded to Fremont in exchange for rookie outfielder Frank 
Demaree, in a trade that will bolster the Furtrader outfield. Stephenson, 34, was hitting .169 in ten 
games before the April 26 trade. Riggs came into this season with a career average of .320, and he was an 
important cog in the Mississippi 1928 championship. He lead the DBS in RBI (128) and triples (10). 
Demaree, 21, was the 9th pick overall by Fremont in the 1932 draft. 




PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Joe Sewell
Player of the week for (April 24th – April 30th) is SS Joe Sewell of St. Louis who for the week 
batted .500 (12-24) with one home run and one double. Joe also knocked in five Plague teammates 
and scored six times himself. Joe is currently on a nine game hitting streak and had 
back-to-back-to-back three hit games this week. The only down note of Joe’s great hitting this week 
was that he was thrown out on the only three steal attempts he had.



PITCHER OF THE MONTH
Red Lucas
Pitcher of the Month for the Month of April 1932 is SP Red (The Nashville Narcissus) Lucas of 
Harlem who for the month was 5-0 with an ERA of 1.86 allowing nine earned runs in 43 2/3 innings 
pitched. Red started five games, completing three, two of them for shutouts while striking out 
eight. Red started out the month with back-to-back complete games shutouts against Pawtucket and 
Montgomery, striking out seven and allowing only eight hits. Not only was Red; hot pitching but 
he also batted .500 (10-20) with one home run, two runs scored and knocked in four runs.



PLAYER OF THE MONTH
Lefty O'Doul
Player of the month for the month of April 1932 is Outfielder Lefty O’Doul of Harlem who for the week 
batted .302 (32-106) with nine home runs, two doubles and a slugging percentage of .538. Lefty also 
knocked in nineteen runs, scored nineteen times himself and stole a base. Lefty is currently on a 13 
game hitting streak and during this streak had a home run streak of three games. Lefty had eight 
multiple hit games, three multiple run games and four multiple RBI games.
