PRESS RELEASE, October 1, 1931

'...almost immediately following the conclusion of perhaps the strangest world series ever, North Dallas kicked off the annual flurry of off season personnel moves by announcing the following moves: Pitcher Heinie Miene has been shipped to Sahara to bolster an already strong pitching staff, as the 'player to be named later' in last season's pre-draft blockbuster trade. Secondly, it was announced that oft unused outfielder Cliff Watwood has received his unconditional release. Manager Bill Terry was reported as saying, "Cliff just never got it going this year. Maybe he will be able to latch on with another club, but there simply isn't any room for him on our roster, as we have several young players that are ready to step in and make an impact." When asked which players he was referencing in his quote, Memphis Bill merely said, "No comment".'
